MSRP price for 1.5 years?

I think the internet manager at Infinti of Oakland is pulling my leg. Here's what he said:

As an FYI, the 2007 G35 Sedans will sell @ MSRP for about a year and a half, so enjoy the wait.
He's also the same sales manager who has kept in touch with me the most often. The internet manager at Miller Infiniti down in southern cali are taking deposits already. After I requested written/signed documentation stating that the refund is indeed refundable, I never heard back from him again.

Pulling your leg? He's a fool if he believes that (he doesn't); they will be discounting them even before they arrive, I guarantee it. Oh, and if a salesman ever sent me a sarcastic e-mail like that I'd tell them to go f**k themselves and find someone else.

Yep.

www.carbuyingtips.com - You can get it less than MSRP.

Nissan is already in big trouble, would they want to not sell the new car? 2k6's can't even sell for invoice (so they're satisfied giving part of their holback up), why would it go for list for 1.5 years? Maybe he's just frustrated with his current and past 1.5 years selling environment...

I'm going to make a prediction; you'll be able to get a 2007 sedan for $1,000 over invoice within the first month.

OMG, never deal with the Oakland guys, go over to somewhere else within an hour or so drive, I ended up buying mine from Niello Infiniti in Concord because they gave me a hell of a deal and had exactly what I wanted. Same thing was going to happen down in Modesto, also.

It's a 2007 Infiniti G35. Infiniti's volume seller. One out of every three Infiniti vehicles sold is an Infiniti G35. There's no reason to pay MSRP for a volume vehicle, even at launch. I probably won't get the vehicle if I can't get at least $2,500 off. It's not the money, it's the principle. I refuse to pay close to MSRP for a 2007 Infiniti G35. If I can't get the discount I want I'll go with a 2007 Lexus GS 350 AWD. Just take your time. The 2007 Infiniti G35 isn't going anywhere. The more time you take, the greater your discount will be. I'm going to start negotiating in November and will probably buy around December / January unless I get the deal I want sooner.

Yeah, that's a pretty sour response that I wouldn't tolerate either. BTW, I agree the new sedan will likely be discounted early on in but only in areas with competition. Around here with one dealer for the Maritimes you just won't see that kind of drop.

Man, that guy sounds like a major league a$$hole. FYI, enjoy the wait, what a ********. I would actually complain to the owner/manager, because that is so obviously false, it just perpetuates the feeling that car dealers are dishonest.

honestly the clientel in the area knows they'd be paying sticker but the discounting off MSRP won't happen in the first batch of '07's b/c it's going to be a limited supply

Good point; of course it wouldn't be very hard for people in low competition areas to shop from the Toronto dealerships via e-mail/phone.

You also have to take into consideration that a lot of people are horrible at negotiating. I love negotiating and calling out salesmen when they try to feed me BS. Knowledge and patience are the keys to getting a good deal.

Yup, just did! And the manager is a lady, too, so I can't wait for her to b!tch at him. This was the dealership that I liked the most, because my coworker got his G35 coupe there. Plus, they're relatively new, so they're very competitive in price and negotiations.

That salesman sounds out of place if they are supposed to be competitive. Even inferring that people will have to pay MSRP *at release* is insulting to any buyer who knows any better.

think about that. In 2007 after the 2008 models are available, does he believe the last year's model (07) will still sell for msrp? that is total nonsense.
