Only via the in dash player and no mp3 discs.
It will burn from the following to quote: "CD's without mp3/WMA files, Hybrid CD-DA (Super Audio CD"s), CD-DA "discs can be used.
You can also recover deleted tracks. I assume unless you write over them.
default recording is 132 kpbs or you can chose 105 kpbs
07G,
Given all these restrictions and 132kbps encoding, I'd stick with CD-R with 192kbps+ mp3s.
Besides, ripping at 4X is SLOW. Can you imagine sitting in the car for hours, ripping 9GB of music?

Any ideas on the cost of a 4 GB card?

I'll have to watch for a sale and a CF reader for the Mac.

More questions about the Music Box:
- can you organize songs by artist, album, genre etc?
- I assume you can scroll the lists quickly using the dial?
- does it only display file names or other info as well?
- what info does the gracenote database provide?
- can you edit any of this data once it is on the hard disk?
- what do you see on the screen if you are reading off a CF card?
I am really disappointed in the limitations mentioned earlier in the thread. I have a lot of old CD's, but all my new music is downloaded in mp3 format (some even legally. . .
It sounds like it's going to be a real hassle to get this stuff on the hard disk if we can't rip mp3's from the CF card.

So just making sure, you can PLAY mp3s off a CD-R, but you just can't RIP off of it, right? And if the CF slot can handle up to 8GB, that would be great. Much better than using 6 CDRs full of MP3s, because CD loading is much slower than reading off of flash memory.

But if I'm not mistaken SD has ultra III now so it's no longer an issue, i.e. D80 and perhaps all of the future models will be SD.
