Great find.

Listening is so subjective but this article is very informative. I still find the XM sound is not very good but I blame that on XM compression.

As I continue to tweak after a month of ownership, I'm beginning to appreciate more and more.

I also used to be a critic of the SOW, after 4 months of ownership, this system is top notch. You get the best sound from CD (in dash) and music box. The rest of the sources are not as good but don't really care since my favorite music is on the music box. the SOW delivers good quality balanced sound across the volume band.

Ipod delivers awesome quality sound as well, as long as the files on there are high quality. I actually prefer the Ipod sound over all other sources. Satellite is so-so, and I'm disappointed in the FM quality and ability to pick up stations. But, I do like the sound, the Ipod and CD sound is great for an OEM system.

One quote from the article that I find very true about this system

"I mean, with the right recording and everything tuned perfectly, you can hear stuff on his system I've never heard in thousands of hearings."

i have gone back and listened to many old cds and I can hear small parts of the recording I never heard on other systems.

I just wish there was a waay of fine tuning the a EQ to suit the needs of the music I listen to.

I agree.
The other nice feature when using an iPod are the multiple available preset EQ. I find that I can generally select one that will provide the sound enhancement I'm listening for in terms of highs and lows while maintaining a crisp sound that is not too artificial.
For those of you who miss having an EQ, I'm not saying its the ultimate solution but it does help a little.

I thought about using that location, but just purchased a custom enclosure instead...especially since I'm a huge believer in boxes doing most of the work...I have seen one member put a 10" kicker competition in that spot though

Does anyone notice any bass coming out of the rear sub in the middle of the rear deck? I get little to no bass in the car and just wondering if we have an issue. I remember my parents old 2000 I30 which "bumped" compared to this thing.

Mine can get quite violent with the bass on full and a good song. The volume has to be up at least mid level and then the rear view mirror will actually vibrate.

It's also VERY dependent on your audio source. I listen to my iPod nearly the entire time and it's crystal clear and hard hitting.

I find the sound system quite decent for a car. If i really want 'audiophile' then I listen at home (without the background noises one has in a car).
Need to get an iPod soon, the kids have em but dad doesn't? Right now, best sound is from CD's.

+1^ Can't let the kids have all the fun...When my daughter upgraded to the iTouch, I got her old ipod as a hand me down. Absoulely the best source for the SOW.

songs with a higher bit rate 320 kbps on the CF sounded much better than the ones with 128 kbps....depending on the song..the rear sub is pretty violent sometimes ..... it is not as much as I have been used to in my 01 Maxima...but very close I would say

Then getting an iPod is top priority, but no hand me downs
