Okay, now I REALLY love this car!!!
I've posted before about how much I like the looks, features and performance of the G. Earlier today though, now having 750 miles on the car (that's close to 1,200, right?), I decided to do some handling testing...
First 90 degree corner, go in hot, hit it pretty hard on the way out. The Slip light gets very unhappy, the rear comes out FAST, and I drift through the corner a bit more sideways than planned. Okay...
Wondering if the traction control screwed me up by braking the rears while already sliding, I switch it off and try again. Same basic result (with a bigger grin
). Note that I'm not intentionally trying to go sideways, just experimenting with speed into and out of the corner.
Next, on to a road with four 90 degree turns, with speed limits (for the corner) ranging from 10 mph to 25. Took the first (25) at about 50, 3rd gear and some throttle - firmly planted. Second turn (20), at about 45, medium-hard out in 3rd - rear kicks out just a bit. Third (20), same speed but more exit throttle, more oversteer than you'd expect for a four-door sedan in 3rd
.
Final turn (10), come in at about 50, hit the brakes hard before the apex then then smoothly onto the gas hard on the way out. The G happily slides her rear out about six inches, and serenely catapults out of the corner. All of this BTW, with max revs of about 5k, still below my guess on HP peak.
It's almost not fair - you other guys have been having this much fun for years, I just got here...
