Before my 07 G35x, I had an 02 Mazda Protege5 and an 07 Porsche Cayman. And got rid of both for the G. With the Denver winters, the Cayman remained garaged for most of it. Clearly the G was a vast upgrade from my Mazda winter driver (and kids car). And while I have to say that the G is a significant downgrade from the Cayman, I am not that disappointed about have to get rid of the Cayman.

As for your Touareg, I would have bought the V10 diesel a few years ago if it was available in California. The Touareg is a great vehicle but so is the G and I wouldn't look at it as an upgrade or downgrade, since they are completely different vehicles. If you were comparing the Touareg to an FX, that's a different story.

Upgrade from '97 VW Passat (VR6) GLX manual to G 35S 6MT. Wanted more power, better handling and a bit of luxury. Got them all.

The whole family is real pleased, luxurious and sexy for my wife, muscular and supple enough for my son. Even my dog is content to sit on the back seat.

Upgrade from a 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT. It had the power & AWD. My G35 has that plus everything else.

This past year I had an 04 BMW M3, then a 330 ci. I feel his is a upgrade from both of those. Even though the M was insanely powerful, this car is not far behind, but far more a pleasure to drive. The M was stiff, and harsh, which is great from time to time, but became tiresome. I went to the 330ci for better ride quality, also an awesome car, but I wanted to get away from the coupe.

My 99 Lincoln Cont (95K) was running decent until the tranny blew coming home from the Jersey shore about a mile from my house. Cost me $1500 (not bad including tow). After that I started looking and then when I found out I was eligible for the VPP via my lovely wife, I called my local dealer. All they had was AWD and I wanted a Journey. Screw the weather and snow. He found me a Pearl White Sport with Premium and I can not get the smile off my face.

And all of these BMW owners really need to get off their high horses as well. The new G35 is better then the BMW 330i and is comparable to the 335i in every way possible. I would hardly say purchasing a G35 is a downgrade.

Anyhow, I came from a 2005 G35 coupe. It had everything I wanted actually but due to unfortunate events, it was recently totaled in an accident. I picked up the 2007 G35x (fully loaded) and couldn't be happier. It has more toys and class then my previous G, and she's faster too. I have been a big fan of Infiniti ever since my Dad picked up the M35x in 2005. I think the new G took a lot from the M to be honest, and I'm glad.

The car to look out for is the new G37 and the twin turbo version coming out after that (500hp). This car will school an M3 and will be more of an apples to apples comparison anyhow.

So you're telling me that going from my E46 M3 to a G35 Journey sedan is not a down grade? Fanboi much?

05 Nissan Maxima SE to 04 G35 coupe 5AT...a whole new ball game. To me its an upgrade, the G is sick, but I do miss the comfort and room that I had in the Maxima.

02 330Ci to 07 G35x.

I think this is a upgrade. The BMW certainly handles, brakes, and feels smoother but from acceleration, technology, and luxury it is no contest. The G wins hands down.

Not to mention the BMW cost more in 01 when I bought it

I came from an 01 S4. I consider it a horizontal move/very slight downgrade.

It was an 01.5 Nogaro Blue 6 speed with black leather. I was running the GIAC chip. I cant even begin to tell you how much I miss that car. If it wasnt such a huge money pit, I would still have it. Heres a couple pics:

Summer of 2005:

Summer of 2006(Its a crappy pic and the blue doesnt show up well)

I just sold the car a couple months ago to get out of my $650 a month payment. That, plus maintenance was a nightmare.
