Whoa. You managed to get a GT500? Did you get it at MSRP? If so, how long in advance did you have to put down your deposit to get it?

Actually, I got it at $200 under MSRP and I ordered it May 2006 and picked it up 11-15-06. I only had to put up $1000 to order it. I know I really got a deal, but unfortunately I physically couldn't continue shifting the 6-speed all the time. I always wanted one back in the 70's but couldn't afford one. Now I cant' handle one.

I am coming from a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT manual. Just got the g35x this past Saturday. I really can't say it's a step up or down.. yet.. G is tighter smoother, more toys, but not the power of the GT.

Although still in break in period here... GT was manual too. so not fair comparison.

September 2006, I decide to buy myself a new car. This was going to be my first car so me and the wife narrow it down to the TL. We test drive the TL and end up at a Lexus dealership with some friends who were looking at the SC model. We test drive the IS250 AWD and we were blown away. The toys, the suptle leather seats, the modern interior we could not resist. I was not even thinking of HP at the time. So we get the Lexus. One year ends and it hits me that anything with a V6 engine or turbo charger is faster than this car. This includes Honda civic si, Toyota Sienna, Honda Accord V6, Dodge Neon SRT…….
Now I am thinking I paid +37k for this car and people with cars worth half that are running circles around me, what gives. Granted I had more toys than the average car but the HP thing really pissed me off. Enter the G35, ever since this car came in late 2006 (after I bought my Lexus), I liked what I saw. Last night, went ahead and sold my IS250AWD and got the G35X. This was an upgrade in many ways, more room, more HP (no more 20k/30k cars passing me against my will), looks, technology (although I lose ventilated seats but who cares). So far, I am loving it, not missing the Lexus IS250AWD one bit.

2006 Volvo S60R and 2007 Grand Cherokee SRT8.

Lateral overall, even tho the G is 7k less than the SRT8, and about 8k less than the R. I think daily i will enjoy this car more, and the reliability and gas mileage will be better (well - EVERYTHING is better than 8mpg). Plus...with it being Liquid Platinum...no more detailing weekly. Once a month will suffice. I would rather have all of the above than the uniqueness of the SRT8. I do miss it tho...especially the rumble of the 6.1 Hemi and the remote start.

Last Wheels - RIP...

Greetings all - first post here... I am a ex-pat Canadian living in Sapporo Japan. I a Professional Photographer and have been here since 2002...

My first car in Japan was a Toyota Celsior = Lexus LS-400...

That was followed by a Nissan Stagea = Skyline Wagon... This is a 2.5 turbo AWD AWS 280ps stock wagon that I changed ECU, intake, exhaust to arrive at 334ps - LOVED this car but...... Unfortunately I got T-boned about a month ago and wrote it off... By far was one of the best vehicles I have EVER owned...

Nissan stopped making the Stagea when the V35 changed to the new design ( this Stagea model M35 was the same FM frame as the V35 ) and I couldn't find a newer one in decent shape so I picked up an '07 Nissan Skyline 250GT FOUR type P ( top of the line option package ) with only 7,000kms on it and will now start the inevitable upward climb to make it my own unique set of wheels...

FYI - the Skyline sedan ( V36 ) is only available with a 2.5 litre with AWD here in Japan but includes Super Hicas in the rear ( AWS )...

Here's a few shots of the previous wheels and a quick shot of the new sedan which I just picked up the other day... I have de-badged it and have replaced the front grill emblem with an Infinity emblem.. The Manaray VR5 Exe sportline 19"s ( 19 x 8 @ +38 ) you see on the Stagea will go straight on the Skyline as soon as the snow is gone and I will decide at that time about springs etc..,

Any questions - let me know....

Don't let the fender mirrors throw you off - they are quite common on big sedans here that are used as company executive cars...

Stagea on a trip up North...

At night...

The new ride.... V36 Skyline - fresh wax - REALLY debadged - Infiniti Grill Emblem - waiting for spring and the 19's from the Stagea...

Cheers,

Damnn

some of these cars you guys had weren't that bad.

I had a 1998 Mercedes ML 320 which gave me ALOT of problems. I drove that car to 160,000 miles, I dreaded it until january 23, 2008 I got my G35xS which I love. BIGGG Upgrade, my mom has a 2001 BMW 530i and the handling on that is still a bit tighter but I love the handling and power of the new G35, I would have gone with the 328xi coupe butt I needed a sedan and the G35 is quite the bang for the money.

1996 Honda Accord EX 4 cylinder with 108,000 miles.

Boring but a great car if you want to get from point A-B with minimal drama. Reliable as all hell. In 12 years of ownership only had to replace the driver side window regulator and alternator where the pulley bolt came loose...
