I placed my order today for an IP sport with 6-speed, premium, nav and tech. Will be downgrading from a 2005 M3.

meh. not much of a downgrade IMO.

the tech is better.

the performance is close engine-wise (and you won't have to rev the crap out of it), and the suspension is more compliant.

I prefer the 335i over the old m3. but i still hate hate hate bmw technology (interface technology, i mean).

Before I bought my 2005 6MT Sedan a couple weeks ago I drove Mazda Miatas for 15 years. My 1999 was supercharged, had 220RWHP and ran the quarter mile in 13.3 seconds. (I sold the supercharger, but still have the car.) Admitting the G is a step up is kind of hard, because I really love the Miata for what it is. I've been known to make fun of huge two ton sedans that need 300 horsepower to be able to get moving... I'm expecting my first child soon, turning 40 not long after that, and I haven't driven the crew at work to lunch in forever so I decided to try a change. Thought about the TSX, Accord EXL V6 6MT but FWD just didn't feel right. Didn't like the G sedan at first until I came across the 6MT with sport suspension and found it wasn't as bad as I feared, and much better than everything else I could afford. I still can't judge where the rear bumper is when I back into places, and every now and then I try to toss it through a corner like a Miata and remember how big and heavy the car really is. I hope the bulbs for the SLIP light in the dash aren't too expensive because I think I'm going to have to replace it once or twice before I get used to slowing for corners. Admitting how much I like it is going to take a little more time...

I downgraded from an '02 M3 myself. I certainly miss the b1tch, but the G is a heck of a DD.

Upgrade from a 1996 Toyota Camry 4 Door LE Sedan with a 4 Cylinder 10 horsepower model airplane engine.

Well that's what it feels like!

I gave the Toy to my GF to drive, permanently. The other day, she wanted me to drive her to Costco in the Toy and I had one of those retro moments where I was alternately knocking the accelerator into the floor and staring at the immobile speedometer sitting at 50 mph.

I yelled "It's broken!"

She just cackled.

Yikes. I used to love that Camry. What the heck was wrong with me!

Smile My Cars are ...

I have a 2001 BMW E46 M3 and was planning on selling it and buying a M45. Well, when I went to get one I saw the G35S and fell in love with it. The plus here was that the $$$ savings allowed me to keep the M3 as well as get the new G35. My wife has the 2006 Acura RL and all three cars are great in thier own ways. The G35 is not a M3 but comes close in the fun factor. I believe nothing handles like the M3 and I must say, I like the throttle better. It is more linear and very easily modulated. I do wish the G's throttle response is more linear so there wasn't a tendency for the "neck slap" when you take off. The M3 has a "SPORT" botton which changes the throttle mapping to something more like the G when you want it but you can also turn it off.

My current daily driver is a 2006 Ford 350F Superduty. Diesel, Crew Cab, Long Box. For anyone that has had the pleasure of driving a school bus to the grocery store, or tried to manage a drive thru with a school bus will know just how anxious I am for the G to arrive! The truck is awesome, it's just not an awesome daily driver. I had a Suburban before the truck, the truck made the surburban feel like a sports car. Only 7 more days until the G arrives, can't wait!

1997 Nissan Maxima SE auto. 127K. Ran great, except Service Engine Soon light on for torque converter. Only a matter of time b4 transmission needed to be replaced.

I would say either an upgrade or lateral move...

2006 G35 AT coupe w/premium and sport suspension to 2007 G35X with premium, navigation and technology packages.
