chsFrom an '04 Acura TSX 6MT to an '06 G35x 5AT. I consider it an upgrade but not a huge one. The TSX was (and is) a wonderful car that covers a lot of sports-sedan bases for fun, comfort, and goodies. It gets good gas mileage, still spins like a top to 7500 rpm, and looks terrific after 5-1/2 years and 93,000 miles.

I wanted a little softer, smoother, quieter ride and awd for Iowa winters, and a little bit more "mature" sedan as I get deeper into my 40s. I like the Infiniti very much -- it's exactly what I wanted for the daily commute. (It helps, for fair-weather fun and track days, to have a Boxster S 6MT.)

just bought 03-G35 6 speed coupe, 45000 mi.,now this is really a nice car. Bigger is what I wanted and bigger is what I got. Power is more than plentiful with the 6 speed.
now for the comparison, I traded a 1999 BMW conv 323, 5 speed manual. here are the findings. BMW silky smooth ride, incredible handling, fantastic gas mileage, quiet no squeeks or rattles ever. HK cd changer is great......BUT......the BMW breaks and breaks, unless you have a mechanic in the family or own a garage where you can get your car fixed buy the rice burner. my .02

newport housewife in a S500 @ 60 mph ran a red light and T-boned my 06' Tacoma (Black, Double Cab, Long Bed, TRD sport 4x2) in the middle of an intersection.. it flipped twice and ran into the corner intersection light post, obviously totalled... I climbed out the rear passenger door (now facing the sky) without any major injuries and cussed the $h!t outta her.. and now Im a part of the G Family.. 09' G37S Sedan B/O

rarely drove, i had one car which was a weekend car. i took public transportation to work but new job = new commute so i picked up an 06 g35x. the weekend car is a bmw z4 coupe.

hard to compare as they're 2 totally different cars. won't bother to even comment on the performance (sedan vs coupe, awd vs rwd) but the build quality in my bmw is great. i've only had minor probs and that being the key fob doesn't like to work sometimes so i have to manually lock/unlock the doors. aside from that it's a great car.

I went from an 1975 Ford Mustang Gia V8, 1988 CRX with over 300,000 km after 18 years of owning it, to a 2002 Altima SL, to a 2006 Nissan X-Trail LE (only one in the city with built in NAV), to my 2007 G35x, which compliments my 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan SXT (kiddie mobile), oh and somewhere in there a 1991 Honda Civic Si Hatchback (wife's car)

The 08 G35x is for my wife so she got a huge upgrade. Previously she was driving a 1993 Toyota Paseo. The only thing she misses is the mpg.

Got rid of my heavily modded 2000 Camaro, got a best of 10.8@127 down the track and of my 2008 FX35. I hated it from the day I got it. Had issue after issue with it. Definate upgrade!

I had an 03 toy camry loaded to the hilt. I know have an 08 g35 journey with sport wheels.

My new car gets looks and is exciting to drive so it is an upgrade in that dept.

The actual car and build quality is a downgrade from the toyota. The interior is about equal, the toyota went to the shop 1 time for a sensor in the airbox and was repaired in a matter of hours, all this in 70k miles. The infiniti has been in the shop 8 times in the past 2 years (24k miles) for various problems, several being repeat problems.

I'm 99 percent sure that I won't be a repeat buyer.

Sold my 350Z and traded in my civic for the G35S. Im one of the few that don't see the G35S as an upgrade to a 350Z. I like the luxury items, but I definately miss the Z. In a few years I'll get rid of the G and go back to a 2 door sports car.

I hear ya, I have an 02 cam, still have it (passed onto the girlfriend) same generation camry, and absolutely no issues with it. The G, already went in twice for tranny related issues. I'm happy it was all fixed and I won't bash the G's quality as of yet as it was only a software issue so far (knocking on wood).

The power/performance, unique styling, and the AWD system of the G is what I found to be a major upgrade to the Camry. I'm now a sedan lover and probably would never buy a coupe or hatch again as I find them completely useless for practicality (the old: 91 civic, 92 mazda 323, 03 tiburon).

I'll drink to that! I just got my '09 xS three weeks ago and so far, besides the annoying tick noise coming from the windsheild area, I am enjoying the car (after of course I swapped out the horrible OEM sport wheels and put on the coupe wheels!).

I traded in my '06 M3 (6sp) for the G37. The M3 was an AMAZING, AMAZING car, but once it turned 50k miles and came off warranty, the water pump broke and the electrical system went to hell. The car was PERFECT up until it came off warranty...it's almost like BMW programmed it to do that! haha. At any rate, can't compare the two. I've owned two BMWs and two Inifnitis ('05 6mt coupe) and loved/love them all. I only wish Infiniti would've made an X model in a 6MT....that would've been sweet!

1999 Pontiac Grand prix GTP -> 2008 G35 Sedan tech/Premium/Sport

I bought the ol GTP brand new back when i was like 20 (single and money to burn). Now Ive got 2 kids and a wife and wanted somthing as fun to drive but a little more luxurious.

I had a TON of mods on the GTP, knew that car inside and out after 11 years of modding damn near EVERYTHING in it. I really miss the ol girl AND that dialy driver with 400hp....but it was time. at 150k the Pontiac was on her last leg.

Got the 08 G35S with everything available... 30k in mileage... and a great price.

I LOVE the car, but definately miss the supercharger. maybe one day I will be able to get one again for the "new" child. ofcourse i totally screwed myself getting a car with an engine that was only made for 2 years.

I see turbos and SC'rs for the xx-'06 and the 3.7L '09+.. but nothing for the dang VQ35HR.

Anyway, love the forum. Looking forward to tweaking the G to fit me even better here real soon.

What car did you come FROM? Upgrade / Downgrade?-wide-shot.jpg
This is what I came out of to get the G sedan. I loved it to death but it was too much for my back to get in and out of. Fast as hell for being fwd too.
