08 mazda 3 to an 04 g35 sedan, the g is older but def upgrade, i love the g's powertrain silky smooth shifts and engine has great low end torque. Not to take anything from my mazda 3 it was really a good car also.

Coming from a 4th generation Maxima SE (5spd of course). I love my old car but the G is definitely an upgrade.

going from an 06 cobalt ss/sc to an 07 g35x
not really an upgrade but a long sidestep. im losing alot of performance, but gaining an extra set of doors, some pretty options, and awd

Yeah it depends on what you call an upgrade, if your just talking 0-60 as an upgrade then you didn't do too well going to a G35X, but REAL TALK a Cobalt to Infiniti G35 is an upgrade on any page in my book.

Where, exactly, are you "losing a lot of performance"? The little I've read says the 07 G35x is quicker (stock) than the 06 Cobalt SS SC.
Let us know what you think after you test it out on some wet pavement or better yet the snow.

well as far as performance goes (handling, braking, acceleration, top speed), the g is a downgrade, gas milage the g is a downgrade.
but, and here is the big one, the g is classy and sophisticated and comfortable, with a bit of sport tossed in. and it is going to be the right car for my needs for a long time, and that is why im going to keep it for a long time

And wait until you test it out on some wet pavement or better yet the snow.
stock is the key word, my cobalt is over 360whp in a 2900 pound car

Then kindly be sure you compare apples to apples before you call the G performance a downgrade to the Cobalt SS SC.

lol like saying going from my 1978 K10 chevy truck to my G is not really an upgrade - less power, less off-road capability, less visibility, less towing capacity!

WOW....Some dumb punk in a red Cobalt SS SC thought he could hang with my 06 G 6MT.....I pulled about 6 car lengths on him and then toasted him on a curvy backroad....stopped and he caught up....let him pass then caught and past him.....What downgrade....I think your facts screwed up also...

07 G35X specs:
0-45 mph (sec.) 3.7
0-60 mph (sec.) 5.6
0-75 mph (sec.) 8.0
1/4-mile (sec. @ mph) 13.9 @ 102.1
Braking, 30-0 mph (ft.) 28
60-0 mph (ft.) 112
Slalom, 6 x 100 ft. (mph) 67.10
Skid pad, 200-ft. diameter (lateral g) .85
Top Speed (mph) 158 mph
06 Cobalt SS SC Specs:
year: 2006
Layout: Front, Transverse
0-60 time: 6.2 sec.
1/4 mile: 14.4
Curb Weight: 2991 lbs.
Displacement: 121.9 Cc
Torque @ RPM: 200 @ 4400
Top Speed: 145 mph
MPG(Cty): 25
Transmission: 5-Speed Manual
Engine: R4 DOHC Supercharged
Horse Power @ RPM: 205 @ 5600

Now the G35X beats out the cobalt in every catergory. Now lets talk looks on the outside and inside. Lets talk finish. Cobalt is like NEON....a big P.O.S. How can you say a sidestep.

I had a 97 SE 5MT.. That's been my favorite car I've ever owned so far. I went from that to a '02 Maxima w/ an AT, and that was a huge mistake.

I'm picking up my '07 G35S 6MT on Thursday!
