I gave up a 2004 Z06 and a mini cooper S for the 07 G35.
The Z06 was insane for the street.. It was wasted. The mini was my beater car and it was too small and rode like something Fred Flinstone would drive. But it was fun while it lasted.

Like you, I have a 2003 Acura 3.2 CL Type-S. I just traded it in over the weekend for my new G35 Sport sedan. I cant tell you yet if it was an upgrade or not. All the amenities are almost the same, but coming from a front wheel drive, 6-speed stick, coupe, to a rear wheel drive automatic is a big change. When I am sitting in traffic in southern california, I will argue that the G is an upgrade!

FX45 ---> G35S
Q45 ---> M45

Hmmm. I have an Infiniti addiction - please DO NOT help me!!!!
As for upgrade/downgrade? They're more lateral moves - each car has it's strengths. The FX was great fun, but the G is SOOO tight and quick.
The M45 feels like an upgrade from the Q... can't wait to see what the next Q will be.
