My original rat racer from '91, an NX2000 originally black, repainted Subaru Rally blue, modded, rebuilt, turbocharged the snot out of it, etc. etc. etc.

I'd have to say a quantum leap from what I had, but I still miss it

A mix bag for me - coming from a Mitsubishi Diamante ES '98 with Prem Package (Leather, (only) memory seats, 16" alloy wheels, sun roof) 114.5 Kmiles.
So, new ride is smaller in size (but that was desired - have a van for kids and stuff and am mostly driving by myself)
Everything else is pure upgrade.

However, 2004 was the first production year for it and I have all sorts of stupid problems with it. Nothing major... but a crap load of little things adds up. I have spoken to 2006 MY owners and they have now fixed all the issues. But, I'm not going to spend that kind of money to upgrade to an '06.

From a "what the car has to offer" standpoint, I am 100% sold on the G35. My main concern is fit and finish. I know they have made leaps and bounds over previous years but I was in a friends 2006 the other day and I felt like I was driving in a "poor mans Porsche" It felt cheap... like REALLY cheap. The plastic was... too plasticy (if that makes sense). The leather wasn't real luxurious. Etc.

Oh, another thing I will miss on the G35... rain sensing wipers!! But, its Nav system is to die for... especially compared to VWs POS system.

LMAO! I was a VW tech for a few years, and was lucky enough to be the only Touareg and Phaeton tech in Albuquerque, NM. Those first year cars SUCKED!!!!! There were at least 40 recalls in the first 6 months on all kinds of things; from moving a TPM sensor, re-routing keyless remote antenna, replacing transfer cases , all kinds of things. I LOVED the V10 diesel, and I have to say it's probably the only VW I'd drive day-to-day. But it's just a waste of tech IMO. The offroad capabilities will hardly even be used, it's really heavy, and has a tendancy of having things(trim pieces & cupholders) break or crack. Your definatly going to be happy with the G, it IS an upgrade from the VW.

I'm 'upgrading' from a subaru, not getting rid of it, just need a more 'mature' car as a DD. Didn't make it to paint as of the pictures, It was in a serious accident and needs a transplanted chassis and a rollcage.
