When I set my heater to auto and set the temperature nothing happens. After driving for about five minutes it kicks in. Anyone else notice this? Could it be due to the cold car at start-up? (we've had quite the winter here in Denver).

 

That's normal, and I think it's awesome. The alternative is that it will just blow really cold air at you. I can only speak for myself, but the last thing I want in the morning is for my car to make me colder.

 

+1, I agree. I like it the way it is.

 

This is the one of the greatest features of this car for people on the cold climate, when I get in my jeep in the morning I have to turn off the blower until the car warms up, otherwise I get that nasty 0 degree air blowing on my feet. by the time I get going and it warms I I'm mentally in drive state and usually forget to turn it on, until it clicks, I'm freezing my arz off.

This is the best way to go. that's functional design at it's best!!!

 

Thanks for the info - also, when I put it into automatic mode it automatically goes to feet only blower. When I change it from this the automatic seems to shut off. Is this also normal?

 

yes that is normal, heat should be directed to the feet, cold should be directed to the vents. and when you select another port you are overriding the automatic setting. you typically don't want heat blowing in your face, and cold air works best when it's blowing in your face

What you'll probably notice, is that when the temperature finally settles in the fan speed will drop, and not sure about the G, but some cars slightly open up the other vents so you have a little air coming from all area's to maintain the temperature.

On my jeep, it has a know with approx 8 settings, the only setting that puts on the vents are for AC on, for heat I have the option of feet only, or feet + windshield.

I don't have my G just yet, I would guess that if you choose to divert the heat to the windshield, it should NOT interrupt your auto setting, it should just open up the windshield vent in addition to the foot vent. Can you try this and confirm either way?

 

If you switch to heat and defrost it turns off the auto or if you just press the defrost button it will open the front window vent then return to auto when you turn it off.

EDIT: Yesterday on the way home I had the climate control on auto and it turned on heat and defrost on its own

 

I couldn't be happier w/ the heater in my new g. It seem to warm up very quickly and efficiently. I hope I am as happy w/ the AC come summer.

 

While heating, I can feel a slight amount of cooler air hitting my face while the heater is on. The air going to my feet is warmer and stronger. I think that works very well, I like a bit of cooler air up top, and my feet to be warm.

 

completely normal ... alot of cars do this, you dont want freezing cold air to be blasting at you

 

When the thermostat is set to auto and the temperature of the interior reaches the temp you set it at, shouldn't the system begin to regulate the temp by providing hot or cold air to keep the interior at the desired temp.

I find myselft getting hot or cold and I keep adjusting the temp. When I took it to the dealer they said that you shouldn't keep it on auto and lower the fan.
