Your experience is correct. I have a 03 FX35 as well as a 07 G35 and both of them have the same problem/issue/design flaw that you are talking about. In both cars I can have the button selected to fresh air (not re-circulate) and the selected temperature to 60F, with an outside temp of 44F and the air coming from the supposedly "fresh air" setting is > 75F. Yes you can increase the fan speed but the air still does not feel like fresh air it just feels like hot air being pushed faster.

So I am concluding it is an Infiniti thing.
