Your experience is correct. I have a 03 FX35 as well as a 07 G35 and both of them have the same problem/issue/design flaw that you are talking about. In both cars I can have the button selected to fresh air (not re-circulate) and the selected temperature to 60F, with an outside temp of 44F and the air coming from the supposedly "fresh air" setting is > 75F. Yes you can increase the fan speed but the air still does not feel like fresh air it just feels like hot air being pushed faster.

So I am concluding it is an Infiniti thing.

I think it is because the cabin is well sealed and effectively pressurized - I notice that when you crack the window open or the sunroof, then you do feel air coming thru the vents. so just crack the back window a little, or turn on the fan.
The temperature is a different issue - seems to me that it is because these were designed as right-hand drive cars, and the air intake is now on the otherside of the car (moving components around to make it left-hand drive has stuffed up the airflow design) - which now causes hot air to get drawn in from the engine bay.
If you pop off the cowl cover at the firewall and look at the air intake, then look across at our driver-side, you can see the air intake was designed to be on the other side (our driver side). So seal up the airbox intake, there are some other suggestions to drop the intake temp, but it is not great.

I liked to feel the actual fresh air coming in, and noticed it right away that the Infiniti does not have fresh air blowing into the car when I am in that mode.

I was not complaining, but only asking a question based on my previous car. If this was my first ride and did not know how other cars handle the air re-circulation, then I would never know to ask.
