Wonder when the G37 Sedan will be released?

Exactly, IMO competition has forced Nissan/Infiniti to bring out their VQ37 ahead of schedule. Lexus's new 3.5L is brilliant and the BMW I6 3.0 TT is not messing around. If Nissan decides to stay with NA motors, (which they most likely will) then a larger displacement is needed to face the competition head on.
So are we looking at a VQ37DE or a VQ37HR?
btw: word in Japan is that the GT-R will use a VQ38DETT motor.
I hope they keep the 3.7 out of the sedan all togather. IMO the coupe should smoke the sedan in terms of speed and performance. In the past the coupe and the sedan were pretty close performance wize. Hopefully they will offer the 3.5 for the sedan and the 3.7 for the coupe.

That's one of the many reasons BMW has been the king for so long. The 3 series sedan has almost always been available with the same performance options as the coupe. For the previous generation, one could get the full sports seats(with thigh extensions!), and even the ZHP pakage.
If Infiniti creates more of a separation between it's coupe and sedans, then I'm afraid more enthusiasts will choose to pay the price premium for a BMW, myself included. And guess what happens to the coupe if sedan sales drop precipitously?

So if we must accept a backseat and it's extra doors, we want to compromise performance and handling as little as possible.

I have looked at it in your view before, but i didnt when i just wrote that reply...yeah i do agree with you, but i still think a coupe should be faster than a sedan. just my opinion though

i posted a thread about this in the 08 coupe section...im thinking, now keep in mind this is just ME thinking this, didnt read it or hear it lol. But maybe infiniti is following in bmw's footsteps. Have a 330 out for a while with another engine choice to follow, then pump it up to a TT335 in only the coupe, then offer bother engines in the sedan and coupe. 335i or 328. maybe sedan will get 3.5, or 3.7 possibly 3.7 only be offered on the S model or what not

I do think comparing the BMW 3 series coupe/sedan to the G coupe/sedan is kind of apples and oranges though. The BMWs look virtually the same in my opinion, yes 1 only has 2 doors. If one passed you the opposite direction on the highway, you could easily not notice it was a coupe. Whereas the G coupe/sedan could actually carry completely different names in my opionion, they are very different looking vehicles, I dont think you would confuse the two of them very easily.
As Railgunner, I would never buy a BMW 3-series. I actually think its a beautiful car, but I like to have something somewhat individualistic and as I mentioned in another thread, every young punk with the money (or daddy) to buy a nice car buys a 3-series. That is a turn off for me.

I wasn't really aware of the sedan in '03, but like others I drooled over the coupe when it came out.
I quickly realized the coupe wasn't going to work for me (familly).
But... because I went to look at the coupe, I discovery a gem in the '04 sedan with the same performance.
& that's what sold me.
If the sedan had been a sorry sister to the coupe,
Infiniti would never have happened for me, I would have been in a 3er.
& now that the familly is no longer the purchasing influence... I have my toy
Seems likely to me that the upgraded 3.7 engine would find it's way into the M. I agree they've spent a lot of development time in the engine, and it makes sense to share it and the M seems like a more logical choice than the G sedan. Gotta give the M guys a better engine than the G. If I was driving an M, i'd like a bigger car and a more powerful engine than the G.
