Wonder when the G37 Sedan will be released?
.2 more liters is not that big of a deal that people make it out to be. Direct injection and a slightly higher compression ratio would give more horsepower on the VQ35HR than a VQ37HR without direct injector and compression increase. In my opinion, going 11.1:1 with direct injection is the way to go and would destroy the Lexus IS350 engine.
I'd like to make people think for a minute. This is not the only time Nissan has done this.
In 1995 the VQ came in the Maxima. It was the same engine through 1999.
In 2000, they updated that VQ with a few add ons to bump the hp to 222. This was only kept for two years. 2000-2001.
In 2002, Nissan put the 3.5L VQ in the Maxima. For 2002-2003 the bodystyle stayed the same mostly except cosmetic changes like lights, but it got a new engine. 2004 the engine stayed the same and it got a new body.
Nissan has done the engine changing suddenly to keep up with the compeition. I personally think Nissan doesn't want to get behind the compeition so they will be throwing the 3.7L in the G Sedan and Coupe probably in a year. It only makes sense.
