Okay, some of you guys are really testing the patience of myself and other Mods/Admins here on this forum. I tried to play nice, but that didn't work with some of you.
These threads regarding the Navigation bypass are going to STOP, period! This forum does NOT condone these activities and does not want to be liable in case something happens. Why is that so hard for some of you to understand?????? And it doesn't matter if 2 members want to discuss this topic or 200 members, G35Driver still does not condone it.
I know some of you will probably disagree with this and that you see no reason why this topic can't be discussed, but in the end, that is too damn bad. This is not your forum and therefore you don't make the rules that exist here. Maybe if you were the owner of this forum and had a personal resonsibility for the members, you would think a little different.
I was actually going to let you guys discuss this topic, but you had to keep pushing for it to be a goddamn sticky, creating polls, and posting multiple threads on this topic. Well that has now ended, as every thread I see on this topic will be an automatic delete. If you want to discuss this topic it will have to be on another forum.
I try my best to make this section of the forum a fun and positive place to visit and I hate to have to come down heavy handed like this.......but then again, you guys made your own bed here.

People need to understand that these kinds of topics pose a serious liability issue to this site and got to stop testing the patience of owners of this site. This site was created as a place for people of the G35 community to interact and discuss various topics and share interests about this great line of cars. This site WAS NOT created as a place for people to come up with different ideas on how to defeat a security feature.
If anyone doubts my true opinion about this subject, or otherwise thinks I'm holding this opinion because I'm a mod now, feel free to go back to this thread and read my opinions (under my old screen name - Speedoholic). Mind you, I was not a moderator back then.

I would have locked/deleted these threads long time ago, but decided to leave it to other, more seasoned mods to take care of it. Glad it happened. These kinds of topics have no place on this site. If you think that you need to defeat this safety feature, use other means of communications (IM, Email, etc.) - but whatever you do: Take it off of this site!

we have to face the reality that we live in a highly litigious society. as a result, the people directly responsible for this board have to ban this type of talk in order to ensure continuity of forms such as this really great one.

And if you guys think this is all just me trying to be a pr!ck with this topic, you are grossly mistaken. PM any of the Admins here and you'll get the same response.
Sorrry cannuck but i didnt buy my car with navi i just bout an aftermarket one a while ago so i dont pay any attention to navi threads and all that
but what exactly does bypassin the navi mean... is it so u can play dvd's while driving or somethin?

No offense to Shane or any other Mods on here but one of the reasons i like to come on here is to gather info on subjects I cant get from magazines or from the dealerships i.e. Nav Lockout whatever.. I do believe that G35 driver in no way in hell can ever be responsible for anything posted on the net. I mean come on guys its the INTERNET you know how much stuff gets posted everyday for the last 15 years, thats much more worst than Nav Lock out? There are web sites that promote serious harm to people and you dont see them getting sued or being held accountable for OTHER PEOPLES actions. Now if you want to go ahead and make a rule about stuff like that then thats different but going ahead and saying that G35 driver will not be held accountable for our actions is pure ludacris. If someone on here gathers intel on how to turn the Nav lock out on here do you honestly thing Godzilla is going to get a call from a lawyer? There are sites that show you how to build bombs for crying out loud, ITS THE INTERNET!!! you can find info on just about anything you want and the US GOV can not do anything about it. I think in the opening page you guys should just put a disclaimer stating "The view's and Topic's discussed on this web site does not reflect the views of G35driver and its Affiliates" END OF STORY
But anyways i love G35 driver and i am in no way disrespecting any mods on here. I just want to give a diff POV on this matter. I know it has pissed you guys off, i think making polls is way out of hand on that subject. If someone figures out how to do it post it in the tech area then, but for this to blow up as bad as it did was just stupid. But whatever we dont make the rules you are right...but as a "business man" you should always watch your back when dealing with a site like this. Where info is exchanged on matters where people lives can get hurt..you have to put a disclaimer..its a no brainer
I think Shane and all the mods on here have done an exceptional Job so can everyone here please show a little bit more respect towards them. The bottom line at the end of the day is that we all love Infiniti G35 and this site is a vocal point to gather info and share view and opinions concerning the vehicle and manufacturer. The mods are here to help us keep it in an orderly/organized fashion.

You can find this information in the service manuals for the car! Why not have it talked about on here.
You can go just about anywhere and read about drugs, how to poison yourself, blow things up with bombs and how to make weapons to destroy almost anything... that doesnt mean people will do it.
I'm sorry.. but I think the mods need to re-think this.
So.. its OK for people to post mods about removing emission devices, Modify ECU's so your car rockets down the highway way past sane limits, alter the suspension so the car handles for crap and endangers everyone on the road.. change the lighting and blind everyone coming at you..
but not defeat the wire for the display screen...
First I would like to say that I agree with the second part of your post and see eye to eye with you on what this site is all about and how it should be utilized.

With that said, in regards to the first part of your post (quoted above), let me requote myself from the previous thread I've linked above:

Far fetched? - perhaps.
Possible? - absolutely.
That is what you call indirect liability.

gimme a break. want a rant!
there is no liability.
there is NO safety issue overrideing this. there is a safety issue with how it is used.
i almost died in a car accident because someone was reaching for their sunglasses. can we discuss sunglasses?

OMG.... this is so wrong...
So, if I go visit a bomb making site and make a bomb, then the site gets sued? WTF!
No body is MAKING you use the info.
Are the moderators also lawyers? Where are you getting your info?

Wow, get tied up for a few days and you really miss the show!
I think that by including full disclaimer, you can avoid liability. Let's face it, g35driver is simple a broker of information, people post what they like and other people read and/or respond. Just for the shear nature of that, you have to consider that information will be posted that might be dangerous to someone somehow.
If you think that discussions about a nav bypass can induce liability, you should also censor (yes, I mean that) all the talk about speeding, radar detectors, any modification of any kind to the vehicle, including things as simple as changing wheels, adjusting suspension, exhaust, etc. because the site, by your terms could be just as "indirectly liable" if anything were to happen to any one of the drivers making said modification, attempting to get their car up to speed, etc.
g35driver.com must, by its nature, DISCLAIM all material on the site to be merely for information purposes. Period.
