No one can judge what ridiculous **** will win a lawsuit nowadays. That's the problem - why put yourself in that position if you don't have to.
So the outcome is to put a "WARNING LABEL" for the stupid people. Did they stop selling coffee? I dont think so.

I think that by including full disclaimer, you can avoid liability. Let's face it, g35driver is simple a broker of information, people post what they like and other people read and/or respond. Just for the shear nature of that, you have to consider that information will be posted that might be dangerous to someone somehow.

If you think that discussions about a nav bypass can induce liability, you should also censor (yes, I mean that) all the talk about speeding, radar detectors, any modification of any kind to the vehicle, including things as simple as changing wheels, adjusting suspension, exhaust, etc. because the site, by your terms could be just as "indirectly liable" if anything were to happen to any one of the drivers making said modification, attempting to get their car up to speed, etc.

g35driver.com must, by its nature, DISCLAIM all material on the site to be merely for information purposes. Period.

JMZ

Agreed. I would even have a disclaimer if I was doing a website on any topic, no matter how benign.

I've been a member of this site since I bought my Coupe in November '04. Finding good, reliable, trustworthy tech info is difficult on this site. The search function is lousy too. I mostly come to this site for the entertainment factor (looking at pics of G's, the off topic forum, etc) of it.

Having said that, I do feel the standard should be applied evenly regardless of model of car, etc.
When installing a DVD converter (video out --> RGB converter) you bypass everything. Your DVD player has complete control of the screen. You don't have to hit 'OK', you don't have to have the parking brake on, you don't have to be standing still. If you hit play on the DVD player a movie will play no matter what, as long as the ignition is powered on.

I seriously don't see the difference, and that thread is 2.5 years old AND STICKIED. Has the admin changed that much? And, why is the old thread still there? I think it would be funny watching them try to delete every thread that pops up on the subject.

No, it isn't. Unless it has changed in the last few months of my slower activity.

True, and I will certainly give you that. The thing is that you can't assume that something can't be sued over. Granted the outcome isn't that they banned coffee but the "validity" of the lawsuit falls under the same area (to me at least)

Audi, did you ever happen to think that the reason why your posts keep getting deleted is because you've contributed nothing but meaningless drivel in this thread?

Certainly a valid question, and I agree that the difference should be addressed. Like I said, regardless of the outcome, the standard should be applied evenly.

LOL SilverII

A warning or should I say plea was posted.

People here either didn't read it or just ignored it like they do on most warnings that you speak of, so one moe time peeps.................

No attacks, keep it On Topic and please watch your wording there are ladies in the forum. OMG Audi, just poor manners dude.

Kick it around but please be respectfull of others. With the type of some of the posting by posters here you brought extra eyes to this forum that you may have not wanted. We do have extra scissors. Let's keep 'em in the draw.

You dont have to give me anything. It's just facts. I am merely saying that this "mod/admin" course of action is wrong.

It appears that some people (namely new members to this site) are missing the point here. Without getting into too much legality aspects (as without proper law education it means jack to you), it is what it is. You can take it or leave it. If you feel that you need to abandon the site, by all means – feel free to do so, you won’t hurt anyone’s feelings.

KPierson was kind enough to offer his site as a knowledge base for this and you are all welcome to use it.

As for the following remark:

Then what is g35driver.com liable for? Do you read all those licensing agreement before you install some software?

We've had a 'watch video on OEM Navi' for the older G35s STICKY in the electronis section for 2.5 years!!!! When using any of the methods provided there you can watch any video at any time.

Why is it encouraged to discuss this on older G35s but taboo to talk about it on the new ones?

Before that thread above was stickied we got 4-5 threads PER week asking about how to do it. The sticky thread cut down on repeat posts and made the forum a better place.
Very good question Kyle....and one that I can't honestly answer. I wasn't a Mod 2.5 years ago nor paid any attention to those threads back then.......so I really am not sure. I completely agree that if it should/shouldn't be a valid topic of discussion on one year of G35, than the same rules should apply to another year of G35. That is a question that can only be answered by Mods/Admins that were around back then.

And some of you guys are coming down on MY @ss like this is just MY decision. Why is that? I think that any of you that have been around this section since it was created knows that I have been nothing but helpful and pleasant to eveyrone. I even pushed hard for all of you to get the Picture Share section created.......which alot of Mods/Admins were opposed to doing. You don't see an individual Picture Share section for the 1st Gen G Sedan or Coupe do you?

This is a touchy subject with alot of you, and I realize that......but cut me some damn slack here.......don't think that this is just MY doing.
