This cannot have been easy for the mods. Over on the my350z forums they had a popular street racing forum that was eventually removed because of all the stories of people almost dying, hitting other people and doing all sorts of stuff.

To think that just because you cant discuss this the forum will collapse is absurd. Personally I think most people out there have enough trouble driving as it is without having movies playing. If you dont like it that much, why not just have an aftermarket system installed?

Oh well, sorry you are having to deal with this mods.

I see both points of view..... as a non-owner, non-moderator, I like the idea of being able to post any issue such as the nav issue. However, I could see, as the site owner or moderator, being wary about potential liability issues. It only takes one person in a serious accident, and that person or the victims can sue the site for posting such information. Even though its questionable whether this site can be held liable in a court of law, the site's owners would still need to hire expensive lawyers, guilty or not, and as you know, lawyers are extremely expensive... unless there are G35 lawyer drivers willing to put pro-bono work on this site's defense :-)

Having said that, a few months ago, I was driving behind a vehicle (it was either a Nissan or Infiniti). The car was driving very erratically. It couldn't stay on its lane. It kept weaving back and forth between its lane and the other lane. Then, I noticed that there was a video playing in the Nav in the center console! There was a family in the car. Wife in the passenger's side, kids in the back seat. They (including the driver) were watching the video! I couldn't believe it. I guess it's too darn tempting even if you're the driver to watch the video playing on the center console.

If all the businesses follow that view, no one would be taking any risk. Afraid of getting sued is a coward. You think YouTube/Google is afraid of Viacom? I think it more of a publicity stunt.

I agree that this site is only use for informations. Now your going to take out a bypass of navi.. next your going to delete threads of how to bolt on an exhaust because somebody decided to change their own exhaust system and got burn or because the exhaust fell on his/her head just because they read some thread regarding about it just like the screen bypass and ended suing you for posting it. If you were going to get sued don't you think they don't have to just wait for a screen bypass just to sue you? I could just sue you for taking away my right to know just because you don't want to post something on. I am not trying to fight against your rules and regulation but if you think about it there would never be a g35 forum again because everything is a liability.

Wow, this is rather absurd. Liability? Give me a break. I agree with Audi, moderators over-moderating because they can. You may think you are doing this to avoid "liability", but you are wrong. There is no liability here.

And what about other liability issues? I can personally recall posts that could be considered illegal. I even remember YOU Canuck, getting on the bandwagon when someone suggested buying a service manual CD and making copies for everyone. Now that is far more likely to incur the litigious wrath of someone.

Also, all of the pics posted and linked here from other sites? You have copyright exceptions for those. right?

Talk about absolute power corrupting absolutely. You guys are drunk on your own power. And, the line about it not being "our forum". Sure, you guys are the mods, started it, etc, etc. But, it is a community and is only as good as the members who frequent it. I like this forum, but abhor censorship. Get over yourselves.

Where Garnet Canuck to defent his position (if any)?

Do you think the G35 is the only car with navigation bypass? Are other car forums getting sued?

Oh, I am still here......just reading everyone's comments. I find it humerous that some of you guys feel I am abusing my Mod privleges when I am merely following the Admins wishes.

hey you got a "job" to do. and don't people realize we have dealerships on the forums here that can void anyone's issues and warranties -- and all dealerships are linked so Infiniti themselves can also have their 0.02 cents.

Wow.....Contravercy!

It seems to me that if a Mod is going to make a statement regarding the legality or liability of a post in a public forum, then one would expect a legal opinion prior to making the statement!

If you going to be a mod, my friend, I would think that your credibility would be of value to you.

This is a public forum, regardless of who owns it. I could certainly understand the closing of this thread due to an ethical dilemma, but please don't throw statements out there that deal with the law and/or liability without first having verified the validity of such statements!

It is what it is fellas.

Play nice nice here. Don't be abusing/attacking any of the Mods etc.

The OT stuff will definitely get snipped..... a word to the wise.... so keep it OT please.

If you feel you have alternatives, sobeit.
