mileage until empty ...?

so i'm sure most of you have already mention this or are wondering the same thing ... and correct me if i'm thinking of this wrong or totally different ...

fuel tank is 20 gallons. the g35 gets about 25 miles p/gallon on the highway ...

but everytime i fill up ... it's always in the low 300s ... even if i use the 19mpg in the city ... it should be around 380 miles ... i don't get no where close to that ...

someone please help me and explain how this works ...

i do mostly hightway driving ... i do about 64 miles both way from home to work and back ... on a week with a full tank ... it doens't last me ... i will have to refill ... so wassup with the 380mil/500mils thing?

I hear ya! When i go from irvine, ca to santa barbara, ca it takes a whole tank exactly. it's only 126 miles away and a bit of city driving, not much at all. so i get about 275 maybe

The computer goes to zero (i.e. zero miles to empty) while the tank still has a gallon or two in it. Recently, when stuck on a remote highway, this was a good thing!

but still ... how do you figure in where the other 200+ miles are going ...

even at all highway driving ... it's only registering low 300/high 200 mile til empty ...

The Miles to Empty has more to do with your driving style and the type of driving you do (i.e. highway vs. city). This issues has been beaten to death, please do a search.

The old g35 had sucky mileage out of the factory, and improved mileage after break-in: low 20's.

how long have you driven your g's?

the best way to calculate mileage is to keep a paper log of your odometer & fill ups.

Yeah it varies. I have something like 1400 miles on mine. On strickly freeway driving even in "hilly" stretches I can get 25miles/gallon, this is with cautious driving(not speeding up/breaking too much). Mixed driving 80freeday 20 streets, I'm averaging almost 22miles/gallon. The miles to empty can be decieving as it costantly changes at times it will even increase mileage if you hit a patch of smooth driving. Try reseting your mileage tracker on both the LCD and in your dash(near speedometer upon fillup) and do your own calcs. . . although as previously mentioned when the needle is at empty and car is warning you a fill up there is still about 3 gallons in the tank so take your mileage and divide by 17gallons or whatever it was to fill up last.
somemore tips to get better mileage are to treadlightly. . . .try to coast as much as you can and break as little as possible, for commuting this isnt a big deal. . .on weekends how ever my mileage goes thru the roof. . ..the cheap cost of having fun :-)
hope that helps a bit. . .

22 miles. that's encouraging to hear on a car like this. I get about 25 on my lexus, and would love to trade 3 miles/gallon difference for the G35.

Just used up my first tank. Got 340 miles with 16.5 gallons.
That comes out to a bit more than 20 miles per gallon.

Considering that I drove 60% local and 40% highways, it is not too bad.
My previous car, '04 Accord V6, gave me around 22 miles per gallon.

But then again, I'll need to see how much I get once I break in, 'cause I'm driving like granpa right now.

How accurate is the Fuel Consuption caldulator on the car? I am on my 3rd tank of gas, and yes, also driving like a grand pa until I break 'er in, and the calculator is telling me that I'm still averaging 15.9 l/100km (or 17.6 mpg), which is really bad. Is this right (bear in mind that it has been going down everyday since I picked up the car, but are the calculations correct)?

Has anyone managed to get close to these numbers (as per the Infiniti listing)?

Estimated Fuel Economy1 - L/100 km (mpg): City 12.2 (23)
Estimated Fuel Economy1 - L/100 km (mpg): Hwy 8.4 (34)

I filled up this morning and I got the most mileage out of this last tank of gas so far since I've owned the 07. When I filled up this morning, I had 637 Kms (or 396 miles) on the trip and the DTE showed that I had 21 KMs (13 miles) left. I've now got 4654 kms (2891 miles) on my G and I definitely see an improvement in fuel efficiency over the last few tanks of gas.
