music box error
music box error
what up guys ... i'm know i'm probably not posting this in the right section but forgive me ... i want a answer from an area with nice traffic ...
anyways, i'm recording NEW cd's onto my hard drive (young jeezy/baby boy/etc) and the CD is freshly new ... never been play before ....
when it's recording, i get this track title default thing ... and when it's done recording, all it is displaying is the date and time ...
now there's a search music box on infiniti.com and they said that i have to download all missing titles onto my compact flash card ... use my pc to get titles, and then transfer all songs back onto my hard drive ... isn't there a better and faster way of doing this without all this transfering ...
the last time this happened ... i manually typed in all the songs, artist names, etc ....
also, why does this happen ... ? i'm sure the system can't be that old being that my vehicle is a 07 ...
anyone please help outa fella g owner out ..
peace!

HEY! The transfer is really the only way to get the correct titles on there if the original CD isn't saving them to the MB correctly.
But you only need to transfer the titles - not the entire disk again.
All my disks seem to have uploaded with all the right info in the right place.
Maybe someone who's had your same problem can chime in here.

I just did this with a late 2006 CD (NOFX), the CD showed up as a title with date and time. It was a simple click to export the untitled tracks to a flash card, then the software from the PC found the titles in in online Gracenote database. A quick import and all was good.
Nope - the Compact Flash process you mentioned, takes the song length/data and matches it to the online Gracenote database, assigns the right title to the right song tag info, then renames the already uploaded song.
Does this make sense? It's just transferring over the song track info. not the actual song.

Hi Everyone:
I tried to use the tool that is available at http://www.infiniti.com/music-update/ but I get an error at the step that says 'Search Titles'. It says 'file access failed'. The file itself with the missing titles definitely exists on the CF card, and is opened by this tool when I browse to it, but that's as far as I can get. Has anyone had this problem and if so, do you know how to resolve it?
Thanks a lot
Tamir

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but I have a question. I have tried the method listed on the Infiniti website and in my musicbox the "Search Missing Titles" button isn't highlighted. Does anyone know why this is?
This typically happens when the system can't find any missing titles. The issue is that if after copying the files from the cd to the MusicBox, you make any changes to any track or anything related to that CD in the MusicBox, it no longer thinks of it as missing. If you haven't changed anything, I'm not sure what the problem is. In my case, this happened when I changed the Mood of one track in the album to Lively.

I'm actually on a 09 G37 with music box, but I'm probably using the same software as you did, the one from infiniti.com/music-update. I'm stuck! Any help would be appreciated!
