Question Why No Sidemarkers?

How come Infiniti decided not to include such a simple-yet-practical feature with the '07 G35 sedan? Were they afraid it would ruin the curvaceous lines of the G35? The 2007 Nissan Skyline (v36) Sedan has them.

I really like the looks of side marker lights, but I especially like their functionality, since I actually use my turn-signals while turning and changing lanes (a concept that's completely foreign to many New York drivers ) and feel it would be one extra (albeit a minor) step in helping me avoid any possible collisions with inattentive drivers. Plus, they just look pretty cool.

I would go ahead and buy a set (maybe from the M35/M45 or aftermarket), but the idea of chopping into presumably very expensive fenders makes me a little apprehensive.

I wouldn't be surprised if 2008 or future models finally get them.

/end rant

I think the easy answer is to save cost. They're not mandated in North America, so Infiniti left them out. They're required in Europe and I believe most European cars have them even on the North American models.

I agree that Infiniti should have included them. Besides their functionality, they contribute to the upscale/European image that Infiniti is trying to project.

I asked the same question one time:

You can actually order Nissan side marker lights now from Japan. I have a set thats due to arrive in a few weeks by boat, so I'll let you know how the install goes. I ordered them through Autobacs in Westminster, CA.

I totally agree with you. I use my signals as well, and I always felt better in my Audi knowing that people could see the blinker on the side.

Someone needs to come out with new mirror housings that have LED turn signals built into them. That way you don't have to drill anything and still have the turn signals... There are some cheesy ones on ebay but they do make some descent ones for A/S4s if my memory serves...

Edit:
Something like this...

I just bought my son a 2003 BMW 330I. I won't go into why I am so impressed with this car, but I will say I really like the side lights for my son who might just drive like any other new driver. He does however use his turn signals and I witnessed a vehicle back off as he was changing lanes on the freeway from the right lane to center as the other driver was slightly behind us in the left lane changing to center. He was in my son's blind spot but as usual I make a quick head turn and saw it.
