Nah just big chunks of tempered glass, broke tempered 'safety' glass panels quite a few times in Auto Collision school to demonstrate, theyre not sharp, just like little 'rocks' of glass. Even if he had the cover open, more than likely no injury would've occurred other than maybe marred up leather.
