Looking for a roof carrier !! Pls help !
Hi Folks,
I just traded in my 2005 G35 6mt for a new 2007 G35 6mt (both sedans).
Seems that Thule does not have a fit kit available yet for the new model.
I urgently need a new solution for my vacation this weekend...I need to use my Thule storage box ! It can mount to any standard bar system
Any help / suggestions are appreciated.
Craig

Folks,
I found a solution if Thule doesn't produce a proper fit kit !
I used my old 03-06 Fit kit for the G35 Sedan.
You can reuse the door clamps and the rubber feet for the front bar.
Install the front bar approx. 9.5" from the windshield as per previous fit kit instructions. (The second bar is placed so you have approx. 27" between the two bars.)
You need to adjust the width of the feet on the front bar and the screw for the door clamp just makes it in ! That was the easy part.
Unfortunately the 07 gets wider from the rain channel to the door frame as you go back !
I went to my local distributor of Thule products in Toronto (Rack Attack) and they had a big bin of various rubber pads for the feet. I found two rubber feet (with the number 87 on them) that allow the feet to move far enough apart from each other to get the rear bar installed. This does take a little pulling to get the door clamps on. The trick is to just barely thread in the screw.
Once both sides are on you can tighten them up sufficiently to have full thread depth screwed in.
The end result looks like a fit direct from Thule, I brought it over to the installers and showed them the fit....they were impressed...its on like a rock.
