Now another option for replacement sport tires
Tread wear rating on those eagle ones seem to be a lot better, anyone have an idea how many miles one can expect to get out of those? Also please tell me they're cheaper!
Oh and for those of you ready to get new tires, how many miles did you get out of your stock sport tires?

I really wish there were more options than just the RE050A and a set of all season tires. In MN there's no way I'd drive the G in the winter with all season tires, and the RE050As are nice, but it'd be nice to have a few choices in the stock size.

And I was all set to go to 17" rims and get the 225/55/17 winter Dunlop M3s. Hmmm. . . Now what?
Can I get away with "all seasons" in NYC metro area winters?
The last Goodyears I had were the Eagle Aquatreads on my '84 Camry to reduce hydroplaning. The Goodyears did the job, as I remember.
Thanks st1sj for the informative links. The motortrend link sounded promising; tirerack was admittedly non commital pending survey responses, but encouraging.

I've mentioned this in other threads, but if you search the Tire Rack site by tire size for a 235/50-18 and a 255/45-18, about a half-dozen possibilities will show up. True, in general they are about 1.5% larger in rolling radius (RR), but this is within acceptable limits for size variation. They also maintain the same front/back stagger and also the same slight RR difference from front to back, so the VDC and ABS will not be upset. In addition, the front and rear rim widths are within specs for all the tire types I checked.
Just something to think about.......

it's probably not a simple swap.

The non-sport has identical wheels on all four corners.

Up until the Eagle all-season in a 225/50-18 that started this thread appeared, there did not seem to be any all-seasons available in the truly correct size. So I suggested the wider tires only as an alternative for those considering an all-season for year-round use.
Yeah, bk, I remember reading your posts on the remedyfor the lack of all seasons for the sport when I was researching the G a few months ago. Your comments were hopeful and helpful.
I suppose being up in Bahston and all, you have a more significant dose of winter than we do here in New Yawk. So if you get through the winter with all seasons, I can forgo the whole new winter wheel and purchase. Yes?

I have a set of 17 X 7 1/2 SSR GTs that I used on my '04 TSX, and I've already confirmed that they fit the G35S. So I plan to get a set of 225/55-17 snows this fall, and live with the TPM warning light thru the winter.
If I didn't already have the wheels, I would probably pull the RE050s, mount a set of 18" all-seasons and run 'em year-round, then pop the Bridgestones back on at lease end or trade/sell time.
