for those that had a pre 07 G sedan

First of all, I had an 04x for 3 1/2 years..... is it just me, or is the trunk smaller on the 07? Even if we took the god awful space robbing changer out of the equation, it seems that the opening is smaller.

Also, the seat belts in the back seat don't have a clip to keep it off your neck. A buddy of mine sat in the back a couple of days ago and that was the first thing he noticed.. "dude, your seatbelt is going to cut my head off". I personally liked the old back seat better with the reclining option.

Don't get me wrong, the car f-ing awesome otherwise.

The trunk capacity is smaller. The 07 is 13.5 cu ft and the 04/05/06 are 14.8 cu ft capacity. This is with a temporary spare used in all models.

Man! What the hell! We lost the full sized spare AND get less room? That bites.

Shocking , isn't it ?? I notice the difference when we are travelling with our luggage.
I got those specs from the Infiniti/Nissan site here : http://www.infinitinews.com/index.html

Yeah, I was just thinking about the luggage thing today. We have one of those gigantic suckers with wheels that used to drop in to the old G w/o any problem. I think it may have to ride in the back seat now.

The grocery pocket in between the cargo net and back used to have a LOT more room too. Now, maybe two bags will fit and before, I could get at least 4.

Reclining seat was sacrificed for a lower roof line and a sleeker looking car.

Not quite true. The reclining seats are still available in Japanese versions with the same lower roof line and sleek look. My guess is that for the US they chose trunk space over opulence.

I read somewhere that they ditched the reclining option to save weight. I figure it's smoke and mirrors since the hardware can't weigh more than 10lbs.

The trunk is smaller however if you probe the sides you will see the trunk insert sits aways from the fender walls like an air gap. So I'm wondering if in the earlier models this gap wasn't there?

Placing the changer in that spot was my chief complaint with this car. I think it's a faulty design, but I just couldn't pass on the car... As for trunk space... I'm coming from a G coupe, so anything is bigger for me.
