Driving to the mountains tomorrow
I'm taking the week off and basically just driving around in my G. I went to Santa Barbara, CA yesterday which is a gorgeous drive along the ocean. Tomorrow I am going to Big Bear which is 6800 feet up in the San Bernardino mountains. I can't wait to make the winding run up to the pines!! This is my favorite toy ever!!!

Cool! Have a great time in Big Bear. I've been up there several times with the family, but never with the G (it's too small). However, I am taking the G on a roadtrip to Lake Tahoe in a few weeks. Taking the 395 by Mammoth and then 89 over Monitor Pass (great roads there) and into South Lake Tahoe. Have done this route several times, but never had the G before. Usually take the vette, but right now I like the G so much that the vette is staying home for this one!
Here's a pic I took in Big Bear last month of the Solar Observatory:

Big Bear trip update
Getting up there and back was as much fun as being there. I did 80 mph on the freeways and slower (of course) on the windy roads. On the mountain I used DS mode exclusively, moving between 2nd and 4th to accelerate and decelerate around the curves.
The G was a total pleasure to drive (as if anyone here doesn't already know that). She was planted firmly, ripped around the curves easily and smartly. I never felt any roll. I had complete confidence that any direction or speed I took the car she could handle it effortlessly. I did not feel that I was "fighting" to steer (as often happened with my previous FWD Lexus ES 330).
As for pics --- sorry, boys. It rained buckets up there and whatever activities we planned were sandwiched between the storms.
On the way back I saw a guy driving an 07 G35 coupe. He looked like he was having as much as I was.

Ahh I was going to take the GF up there for her B-day with the drive in mind. . .but that would have been selfish. . .we went somewhere else. . .. I envy you. . .I have taken her (the G) on the malibu canyon roads and PCH though ohhhh tooo much fun. . .now if those pesky cops werent around. . .
Next is a Trip up to bid Sur. . .the old PCH(windiest of the windy) up to San Fran. . .now that is going to be a blast. . .not many cops there. . .

I did Malibu Canyon / Kanan Rd. the first week I had the car. The ride up 101 to SF is fantastic!! Now you got me wanting to do it too!! If I leave tomorrow morning I guess I could be back Thursday....
Trouble with a G: It's so much fun to drive, I'd rather drive than work!!! How am I going to pay for it unless I work????
