07 Sedan Brake Issues?
#16
07 G35S daily driven in stop and go traffic. I developed loud brake squealing when slowing down since I hit 3000 miles. Dealer couldn't find anything wrong with brakes. As per a suggestion in the Tech section, shooting the brakes with a water hose causes the squeal to go away for about 5 days. Will have them look at it again when I bring it in for 7500 mile service soon.

They changed the brakes on the '05, except for the X, then they changed the x in '06. I had 22k on my '05, and the brakes and rotors still looked like new, the pads were still almost 10 mm. So, yes, Infiniti has fixed that quirk. And yes, the brakes on the S are larger!
I had a squeak in the brakes on my '05, the pads tend to build up a glaze in light braking, nothing to worry about, as I said the brakes on my '05 still looked and felt good. That makes sense in stop and go. For some unknown reason, I like your color choice!

The majority of problems with the Gs have been the early 03-04 cars due to calipers being too small for the car. 05 and newer cars have been free of the tremendous dust and excessive squealing. If owners are still annoyed by either, ceramics will usually cure both symptoms as well as adding to overall brake life. If your car doesn't exhibit extreme issues, leave well enough alone.
