A/C odor?

I live in texas and its hot down here, when i turn on the car, i wait a min then when i turn on the A/C, it gives out an odor.. like B.O... my car is clean and i dont have B.O.
but it smells for a couple seconds and goes away..

i got almost 16000 miles, do i need to change out the cabin filter?
anyone else having this problem?

and when am i supposed to change the cabin filter..

thanks guys..

Turn the A/C off a minute or two before you stop drying to let the vents dry out. When the A/C is turned off with the car, the condensation that is left in the system promotes growth of nasty, icky stuff (mold).

For a lot of money, I'm sure they'd be glad to. Changing the filter out might help as well....not so knowledgeable in that department.

You can do it yourself (or pay a dealer) ... an antifungal/bacterial spray is made for this. You spray the stuff into the pickup area for the internal ventilation (often in passenger footwell). Do NOT sit in the vehicle and do this task...lean in and spray...!

Do it with the a/c running on sealed circuit and then a second time on open circuit. I also spray (carefully) into the external vents above the hood, with the a/c on and also off.

This is only a quick fix...it may be better to have the condensate catcher taken out and cleaned/replaced but in the future, do the spray-through once a week.. it worked for me in hot and humid Florida

well i know I just recently got the 15k mile service and they change out the cabin air filter as part of it. I noticed a difference in the quality of the air coming out of the a/c

I live in Houston, same issue. Tried the turn off AC thing, but just not motivated to remember / bother. Have now found it clearing up, suspect it's because now it's cooling off a bit the recirc doesn't run as often? Or it just goes away...

i talked to my service guy today, hes got a decked out 350z and a new g sedan, so he knows whatsup. he said try not the run the recirculate as much, use the fresh (outside) air more, and dont keep the temp at 60 and the fan speed at low, turn up the temp and keep the fan speed at med. he said that will help alot,

infiniti can clean up that moldy moister for $130, but he said to wait untill the smell is really bad, but he said if i do what he says it shouldnt happen as bad and new filters will help out.

i got a service apt. on friday, ill let u guys know if it works or not.
