The break even point for total cost is around 15k down, give or take, depending on your car.

This is not so. My montly payment is actually about $30 less by taking the extra $3K cash off and getting my own financing at 5.99%. It all depends on how much your putting down, but I'd take the $3K up front almost any way you look at it, because if you pay off the car early, which most people will do, then you won't pay the full finance charge anyway. Just my $.02.

FYI.. HT_Driver... If you can get 4.5% from your credit union, then I would run with that. The best rate my local Infiniti dealer could get me was 6.49% and I have a 750+ credit score... I was able to get 5.99% on my own and I was happy with that.

HT_Driver:

Let's say your 08 G35 Journey w/prem is $35K +TTL with the 0.9% financing, and $32K without (taking the $3K). The break even loan interest rate you'd have to get with zero money down is around 4.5%, with a 5 year term. Run the numbers through any loan calculator and you'll see.

Given that, and given that 4.5% is about what you're getting from your bank, I'd finance with Infiniti at the 0.9% for 5 years because it's so easy. And absolutely do not put 25% down! Borrow the whole amount and put that $8K in a money market earning 2.5% or, if you really don't need it, a CD earning 4%. Or gamble it on the stock market...

One thing everyone ifs forgetting is how long will you keep the car. The transisiton poitn for .9% vs. $3K rebate ona fully financed car is liek 203 years down the road, so if you are like me and never keep a car that long the $3K now is a better deal. If you plan to keep the car 5 years take the .9% it is simple math go to bank rate and use the auto calculator. With good creidt you can get 4.75% for up to 72 months from PenFed. I calcluated on 63 months 72 months would be different transition point.

08 G35 Journey, Prem, Nav, Auto

I just picked up a new 08 G35 for $33k out the door last night. The price of the car was $30171.56 not including TTL. The dealer just opened two weeks ago and I was only the 10 person they had sold a car to. I am loving the new ride, can't wait until the engine is run in!

not OTD. Before tax, etc. Still a pretty sweet deal (not sure I've seen lower on that config, but could have missed it). Sweet car though!

Great price, where are you located?

I am in negotiations on this exact setup, and have been unable to get the first dealer I talked to below $37K. Trying a few more local dealers, as well as a few other types of cars (I'm indecisive as hell anyway).

Hoping that year end will offer up some very nice savings on new cars from prior years.

That is a great deal. You essentially got Nav for $700 over what i'm paying non-nav. I'm having no luck getting these guys to negotiate. They seem confident they can sell the cars.

Drag them out until the end of the month and you will find they get more motivated. Plus with the end of the year even more so.

I plan to buy my 2008 after X'mas, just before the New Year

I am trying to pull the trigger on my 08 G35 Journey Premium/ Nav (lease)

Not to mention that today is the Fiscal End of November

I'm afraid that I wont be able to get my nav car after Christmas, So Im going now...

I bought from Sheehy Infiniti in Annapolis MD. Im not from there, but I drove in (about 1 hour 45 mins). let me know if you want the guys name that I talked to. VERY professional compared to the other dealer in Timonium MD.
