Had An 07 Loaner
The difference between the x and sport is so minimal. Like stated above a couple tenths of a second. No one is gonna notice that. LOL. Besides we all know which one won on the track!

I think so, I know I only put in 87, do you think it would have that big an effect on performance? to where you notice it?
One other item I noticed... the slip light comes on constantly, even under fairly normal driving conditions... does the X model use the sliplight to indicate when it's engaging the AWD? because the car wasn't actually slipping.

You mean you only put in 87 in the loaner right?
Please don't tell me you put in 87 in your car.

And to answer your question, it kills performance since regular gas burns faster than premium gas. Since these engines are high compression engines (lots of compressed air = lots of heat), regular gas will explode before its supposed to (commonly called knock or knock retard) and the car's computer will pull back timing to compensate which results in your loss of performance. If your knock sensors malfunctioned and your car did not pull back the timing, kiss your engine goodbye.
KR commonly happens during higher RPMs.

I drove an '07 G35 base model loaner (5K miles) today while mine was getting it's oil changed and the fob swap.
IMO: I can defenatly tell the difference between my sport and base model. The Goodyears didn't have near the grip of the Bridgestones. The suspension seemed softer and I felt less attached to road, less feed back through the steering wheel. It didn't seem to have peep of my car, probably due the 87 gas they use, my baby drinks 93 only. The seats felt softer and had more theigh room than the sport seats. Over-all I'm glad I got the sport model.
