auto climate in cold weather
auto climate in cold weather
I was curious about using the auto/ac climate control when temps are below 40 degrees F outside. Any reason not to keep the ac engaged? If it is not engaged do the temp interior temp sensors work to maintain the temperature setting?
The AC unit is only engaged if it needs it. In cold weather, even though the AC light is on, it will remain off and use the outside air to cool the cabin if necessary... but probably not since it can control the overall air temperature for example; if you set it at 72, the air coming out of the vents is usually 72.
1.winter time is almost here and windows tend to fog up. whenever i press the window button the ac goes on too..is it supposed to be that way? even when the heat is up the ac light is on? and everytime i have to turn it off..
2.another thing is when i do press the fan button its automatically set to the floor settings even though the last time i had it on the top vent setting and i have to keep pressing mode to get it to the desired setting..
3.when the climate control if off..is there a way to change the temp because at highway speeds aka 100mph++ it tends to get a bit toasty with the setting on 90deg..so i have to turn the air on and THEN lower the temp to 60 and then turn it back off so i dont get warm air blowing in..

It is a common misconception that AC is only used to cool the air.

I think this has something to do with them wanting start the heat from the bottom. As you know warm air rises. I recall in the summer that the A/C started from front vents when it was hot... Somebody will have to confirm.
Annoying? Sorta, I've gotten use to pressing it automatically now. My friend admires my quickwork with the dash console

Your are correct, it seems when cooling the car down in blows from the front vents, when heating it starts from the bottom. This only happens when it is automatic mode, otherwise it is user preference

I think it just pulls too much from the engine bay, creating the need to have a/c on even when its 50-60 degrees outside. I read a writeup somewhere on this forum about how someone close up the holes in the fresh air lines that were in the engine bay and it solved the problem. Drives me nuts though...it can be 50 degrees out, and if I have fresh air on I still need the a/c on to get some cool air.
