Going insane with Dash Noise
Ok - I know I'm probably crazy, but.....
My wife and I spent about 45 minutes on our local highway and I still can't figure out this dash noise.
It seems most noticeable when accelerating somewhat hard and the RPMs are transitioning around 3500 - 4500, but I also hear it at highway cruising speeds. The sound is like a medium tone "bell" thats ringing. It reminds me of something that is hitting a resonant vibration frequency and then it starts ringing!!!!!
I've ruled out wind noise, anything in the glove box (emptied it), my phone and phone charger (I usually put the phone in the spot next to the charger in front of the shifter). It seems to be coming from the dash in the center.
So - in desperation I'm reaching out to the "G" gods to see if anyone else has heard this or figured it out.
HELLLPPPPP!!!!!!

I'll try to see if I can get a recording of it. It might be hard because it's a really subtle noise - that's the part that drives me most insane!!!!
I can see the guys at Infiniti now. I'm sorry sir - we have no idea what you're talking about - have you taken all your medication recently!

My dad loves to tell a story about a similar problem he had years and years ago with one of his many muscle cars. He took his car in to the dealer several times and they always told him that everything appeared normal to them until finally one of the techs heard the noise. After ripping everything out and looking everywhere he called my dad and told him they were going to need to replace the entire dash. When he ripped out the dash a 3/4" washer rolled out, it had been rolling along a ridge in the dash from one side to the other.
True story...
In addition to my '07 G35S 5AT and my wife's Murano, we have a '97 Maxima.
Last year, the Maxima had an annoying clunking noise that came from the dash area whenever you steered left. It was almost as if a keychain were banging against the steering column, but it was a bit muffled.
I was afraid it could be a safety issue. We brought the car in to the dealership. $80 later...it turned out that a pen had fallen into an air duct on top of the dash and down into the a/c ductwork.
Luckily, the pen did not have the name of a Nissan dealer or oil change place on it.

, guess whoever put the door together was eating lunch. Well, the dash on those old cars was far easier to access and work on than the cars of today, these new cars are a nightmare behind the dash!

Pretty funny that they eat lunch in the cars while being assembled, I bet the owner didn't even do that.
what hapened to me..if yours is coming from the passenger side. then its propably the windshield rubbing against some metal piece..i had the windshield removed and replaced..and now its GONE.
Anybody hear a loud knock on the dash when hitting large cracks or expansion joints? I did fix the many dash creaking noises by taking out the center "guts" and using white lithium grease on the plastic to plastic spots.
What you describe doesn't sound like this though.
