56 bucks a piece is pretty steep, even though they supposedly last a million miles or what not... I wouldnt want to have to wash a filter and oil it everytime i need to change it. Too much down time for the G, unless you bought 2 sets...

Its a cheap initial investment if you think about it. Our air filters are $25ea. at the dealers. In the long run the KN pays for itself.

Does anyone think...

the K&N air filters would yield a noticeably improved sound or performance at all?

I'm just curious...it would be a low-hassle, cheap mod if there truly is a benefit.

I get your point, my brother has a KN filter on his accord (cone style on a SRI) but he still has to buy the oil and cleaner which is 20 some odd bucks... I think if you don't mind the hassle of cleaning it every time it's dirty, then get it. I just don't trust cleaning a filter over and over....

I have steered clear of these filters because of the potential to sometimes cause MAF issues on an overly oiled filter. I am not sure how much of an issue this is with the G, but I remember a number of people on Maxima forums I used to follow that had it happen to them.

No. It will not sound any different than stock. I doubt if there would be any noticeable improvement in performance either.

IMO, K&N filters are a PITA. So, they have a 1 million mile warranty. Big deal. You still need to buy K&N cleaning solution and oil. It's kind of a pain to clean because if you're not careful, you can damage the filter element. You then have to wait forever for it to dry. You can't blow it w/ compressed air as that may also damage the filter element or blow chunks of it off. Then you have to oil it.

It's much cheaper and easier to just use the OEM air filters which pop right in w/ no hassle.

There are also some known issues with the oil fouling the MAF's on certain vehicles as well.

Save your money for a dry filter that is designed to work with your car... Like a Fujita

This is true. If you oil it too much, you can mess up your MAF sensor and it will actually flow LESS than a stock paper filter. If you don't oil it enough, it will not filter as well as a stock paper filter and you end up w/ contaminants in your engine.

I hated cleaning the K&N cone filters on my JWT Pop Charger on my old car.
