I am at 150 miles on my g35xs and 16.9 mpg (real). This is all stop and go traffic and in between that some 5-6k rpm shifts. I am pretty happy considering the circumstances. How you manage 14 I really dont know...

I was well aware that this car got the worst mileage in its class when I bought it.

I get about 17-19 mpg with about 85% of my driving in the city.

Is this normal? I went in for a 3K oil change and asked someone at Santa Monica Infiniti why it was so low and he told me I have to wait until I get up to 10-15K mileage and then, once broken in, the mpg would increase.

However I spoke to a friend with the same car and he's had 21 mpg since he got his.

I was wondering if anyone else is having horrible mpg in their 07 G35 Sedan. What you guys think of this? Also, if you have a 07 G Sedan, post how many mpg your dash is currently showing.

your is that high????
mine is 14.5 avg. city 14.9 hwy

This is for 2008 BMW 538xi (better comparison then 3 series size wise)

Fuel Type Premium:
MPG (city) 17
MPG (highway) 25
MPG (combined) 20

This is for 2008 G35x:
Fuel Type Premium
MPG (city) 17
MPG (highway) 23
MPG (combined) 19

Imho very comparable results

Before you drive on the highway, reset the "gauge" and you will see it gets better. The 16.7 is an average and if you never reset it, it's not going to change much.

it took me some time to figure out the main reason for the poor fuel economy i was getting was due to one major flaw:

on the 08 the gauge calculates mpg in 30 seconds or so after you reset it and that number varies alot depending on how much gas is used in the time frame and that depends on road conditions weather you are cruising, accelerating or just coasting downhill,.. . etc. I've gotten 30 mpg from it simply by leaving my foot off the gas petal for 10 seconds in the sampling period. the number from the gauge should not be taken seriously, do a real calculation after you fill the tank and remember to reset the tripometer

I myself didn't buy this car to save gas. Maybe I'll save more gas with my next car. If I can afford a M50X in a could years

there is a HUGE difference on MPG when I drive my '08. When I drive like an idiot like always at 5-6K RPM and maybe a little more I only get like 12 or 10 lol but recently I've been calm and keep it under 3K once in a while 4K and now I get 21MPG
