Just managed to pull this off on an 80 mile highway commute back from my university. The miles left indicator said 50 miles when I started, haha. I just stayed 60-65mph the whole way, the average speed went down a lot when I got to the gas station and parked.

Bonus pic: That was also the most I've ever filled up. I must have been on empty for 30 miles, but it still had 2 gallons in the tank.

Yeah I'm too scared to get anywhere less then 2 gallons. Plus it might burn out the fuel pump.

I've heard that too, I only did this because I didn't want to fill up on 1/4-1/3 of a tank before leaving

Man...I didn't think about that. I have to start to filling up as soon as the indicator comes on now.

I average 16-17 mpg with 75% city and 25% hwy. I use to drive like a granny but I noticed it doesn't make much of a difference. Might as well enjoy it way its suppose to be driven! I think the best mpg I've ever gotten was cruising on the hwy at 75. I got about 26mpg.

Your car is still breaking in. Do you use premium gas? I lost almost 2mpg when I put 87 in it to see how she ran. She did not like 87 at all. She was sluggish and mpg was bad. 93 no ethanol is all she gets now mpg 23.

I'm jealous of you.. we get 91 w/ethanol here in CA and I'd like to see how the G runs on better fuel.

So, I think I'm averaging the following on my 2008 G35x:
14-15 mpg on 87 octane
16-17 mpg on 93 octane.

I wonder if the 93 octane is worth the extra MPG ???
I also wonder if the MPG benefits from the 7spd auto is worth upgrading to a 2009+ G37 ???

I am lucky to see 18mpg e/ all the mods I've done to the car. I do average 16 mostly. I once saw 22 in the beginning of this year. But I do miss the good ol days where I saw 24

I can't understand why our cars get such bad gas mileage. Other cars at that time have better or just as good performance as ours and they get better real world gas mileage.

I'm running 22ish most highway, but I'm a bit heavy on the gas. Drove very conservative the first few weeks and was getting 25-26. No problems here, 93 with normal oil changes and the occasional fuel system cleaner.

I don't think our 6 to 7 yr old cars with decent performance is particularly bad in gas mileage, unless you are comparison it with cars with 7sp transmission and/or turbo-charged 4-cyl engine with a light right foot.

I think I could use a 7th gear in my G35s for freeway, but it wasn't avaialble at the time the car was made.

I wouldn't mind better mpg, but I know the trade off would be either luxury, performance or money in the bank account, or all of the above.

I got around 21.6 mpg overall avg, and easy to get around ~25 mpg cruising around ~70mph on the freeway.
