I dont now about you guys getting 20 + MPG's my G has over 18,000 miles
I have gone fully synthetic, oil & transaxles and have yet to crack 20 mpg since I got the car. I do alot of highway cruising to and from my job 80-90 miles a day round trip. I thought there was a thread about getting the computer re-flashed or the fuel remapped to improve the mileage?
anybody wanna shed some light on this if they have had it done... does it work ? I have the 07 G35X journey.... yes they are thirsty cars!
and alot of fun to Drive!! but whats up with the re-flash re-map?
is there such a thing????

Reset the mpg count, maybe its averaging the mpg for the life of the car.

Also remember that in colder climes, winter gas can lower your MPG even more.

I agree with you. Posting MPG and stating City or HWY is useless without some defining info, average MPH and style of driving. I have milked my TL-S the last 8 months and average 21.8, my previous TL was 22.4 and my AVE MPH is usually 25-29. I am ready to buy 08 G35, but woudl be regretful if I get 16-17 under same circumstances, I could live with 19. AVE MPH as wlel as whther someone is a heavy footed person or not makes a difference. Also the 07 modles had very agressive acceleration and sensitive pedal, the 08 has been more gradual acceleration and less sensitive pedal.

I have only 1000 miles so far on my G35xS, but I have only gotten 14-15MPG so far on the first 5 tanks. My driving consists mainly of local trips, only a few miles at a time, and once in a while a little longer ride, but so far NO highway at all. I drove the same way in my 2002 BMW M3 and was getting 18MPG, so I am disappointed so far with the 14-15 here. I hope it improves as I add more miles to the car and also summer approaches.

i drove over the weekend mostly highway I think i saw 20mpg this based on careful "use and fill" and odometer readings and calculation not just the comp.

Folks,

I noticed that your AVERAGE miles per gallon will go down if you let the car idle.

I took my car off the road for the winter, however, I started it every couple of days and let it ran for 15-20 minutes.

After this, the AVERAGE gas mile goes down a good amount. I am assuming, because as you are idling, you are burning a SMALL but enough amount of fuel, although you are not traveling anywhere.

Therefore when the car is idling you are averaging, zero divided by that small amount of fuel. Therefore, zero of any number is zero.

I think the car averages in the zero miles per gallon when it is idling.

Try resetting your calculator before going for the drive.

My theory may be incorrect, but it makes sense, at least to me.

Yes it does, the engine is running, but your going nowhere, you are not going to get optimal MPG driving in stop and go traffic, sitting on the freeway, etc. If you look at the Average MPH, that tells the story, even with freeway driving, my av mph is still around 24-25. Now, if I fill up and reset the computer, and immediately drive with no obstructions, it reads 18-19 mpg when I stop! On a recent 80 mile interstate drive, I reset the comp as I was getting on the freeway, and when I came to the last exit, I had 26.8 mpg, ave mph 74.5, pretty good highway mileage IMO!
