My mom is looking to switch her guage cluster to a Canadian one, or one with KMPH. I was wondering how much this would usually cost and if any of you guys are wanting to get rid of one. She bought the car from the states and it has 3764 miles on it. It's an 07 G35 with automatic transmission. I really don't know what to do, dealerships want close to $1000 to put one in . I see some for sale on ebay but those are for 03-05s. What do you guys suggest?

Whether it's a Canadian cluster or possibly JDM cluster it should be OK.

Not certain if JDM will fit (because it's right hand drive) and how you might get one (I believe that it's full metric if I'm not mistaken).

If anyone has any idea where to source one I'm certain we'll find out soon enough.

What's sad is finding what appears to be an instrament cluster for a 2007 on www.infinitipartsusa.com for the ridiculously low price of $231. Compare that to the $750 that Canadian dealers quote (not including installation).

Good luck with the search, and make sure to get the cluster swap done by a dealer with proper documentation.

 

IIRC you will need to report the change to the vehicle registry and you have to place a notice on the door frame indicating the mileage when it was replaced as your new gauges will read 0km.

 

^that sounds right to me. Like I said in your other posting in the Canada section just spend the money and do it right at the dealer. No doubt many thousands more were saved buying a US vehicle.

 

There is a selector in the menu of the red center cluster to change from US to Canadian measurements. The gauges would still look different but the would read in km's.

 

uuuh dunt know what you mean... but that only applies to whatever else readings they display on the dot matrix display EXCLUDING the odometer and trip meter.

and no it doesnt do anything to the gauges... the gauages already have the kms on the inside.

 

The new gauge will read the correct km. There is a 2 stage computer in the car registering your mileage. If you take your original gauge out and put it back 2 months later it will roll to the right number. Same idea with the new one. They pretty fraud proof. Well not perfectly but got the point.

Same idea with the cars. Why you have to pay for the same car 10k more?

The cluster is identical other than the KM being the larger numbers on the outside and the Miles on the inside. I've seen a metric cluster where there are no mile markers at all (think it was a G35 sedan on Youtube).

It is same with the US just the km is bigger and the iles smaller.

In the near east there is only km on it.

I think same in Russia but not sure.
