Planning to buy.. no sunroof?

Hey everyone, I'm new here.

I'm planning to buy a new 08' G35 sometime within the next 3 months.. since the sunroof is an optional feature and I don't use it at all on the current car I drive, im probably buying the G without one.

I have never seen an 07' or 08' G without a sunroof on the road, do any of you guys own one? If so would it be possible to post pics?

Also, if I were to sell the car a few yrs down the road, you think it would be difficult to get a good price without a sunroof on a sporty car like this?

Thanks in advance for the input!

Well, I for one have a sunroof to be honest I rarely use it
for me its not worth the 1k it costs. Thats basically 30 bucks per payment
for a sun roof I don't use. Just my opinion

don't be cheap... imo, even if you don't use the sunroof much, cars without sunroofs just feel stripped down

also, it's unlikely you'll be able to find one without a sunroof that is available with other options that you probably do want

I think that since sunroofs are such a popular option, you'll be hard pressed to find a G on a lot without one. I agree with patman, it's worth the little extra money, especially on the resale value.

For '07

the sunroof came as part of the Premium Package, so people who wanted to SOW and other perks in the Premium Package had to get the sunroof.

At first I forced myself to open it, and now have grown to love it. I still don't know, however, if I'd spring for it if it were a standalone option.

I think I heard somewhere, about 50 pounds. That could be way off though.

I don't understand, why would anyone pay over 30k for a luxury/sport sedan with out a sunroof? doesn't it feel good when you have a fully loaded car when you pay so much money already? thats just my opinion.

If you live in the North, come spring, you want to throw everything open and the sunroof is great all summer long. I wouldn't get a car without one.

That said, I wish it were farther forward!

Only the base model (G35 Sedan) and base journey (G35 Journey with no packages or sport only) will not have a sunroof?

lol i like your thinking. . .and 1k

how about putting it this way, would you rather have a
sun roof

or a stillen SS exhaust system?

or say an intake of your liking and a 12" sub?

or shoot for that matter a lowered car with a clear mask?

I'd pick any of the last few combinations

but thats just me. . .

Sunroof is clear choice, adds value to the car while intakes, exhaust or lowering the car all reduce the value of the car. so not only are you paying for those items, you are also loosing that much more off the value of the car.

I personally hate sunroofs. I special ordered my 2007 Ivory Pearl G35S 6-speed RWD with NO roof, NO premium, NO nav, NO tech, NO 4WAS, blah blah blah. Just a 306hp 6sp 350z in sheeps clothing, seating for 4, and head airbags. And yes, I did Stillen exhaust and Stillen intakes. Waiting for someone to do a nice relatively reliable (read ecu) TT kit for the HR. Only thing I wish was that it came with crank windows and cloth, but alas, you can't have everything.

Oh yes, and I have a 2003 Ivory Pearl FX35 base RWD, Cloth interior, with NO sunroof, NO tech, NO nav, NO premium, NO nuthin'. Soon to have Stillen exhaust and intake. I personally buy cars for myself, not others, so I buy them the way I like 'em. Cars are not an investment (typically), and if you're buying a car for resale, well, maybe you should be posting in the Accord or Camry forums. And to the right person (ie a performance enthusiast) the lightweight non-roofed non-optioned cars in fact are worth quite a premium.

Next car to be added to my fleet: 2009 Nissan GT-R, white, special order with NO options. I may strip the paint and repaint in Ivory Pearl...

DOMO

Edit: don't forget the sunroof delete adds 1-2" of headroom, not so important on the FX, but meaningful in the G if you are tall....
