I had the TSB 028 update done a little over a week ago. My gas mileage got better by a full mile a gallon, but it was still seemed jerky from a cold start. After reading here on this board, I made an appointment to go in for the TSB 045 update. They made me bring it in to keep it overnight, and then told me the next day that the 028 update to the ECM is the same as the 045 update, in that either one updates the ECM to the latest, greatest code, so there is no point in doing it again.

Is there really just one ECM update patch that is applied in response to either of the two TSB's?

Sounds like they are feeding you some BS. 045 was released a couple months after 028. 045 totally fixed my cold start issues.

After almost over 1 year in the car and the rising gas prices am paying more attention to the mpg. I drive 60% highway/40% city. I average only 19-21 mpg . Thought that it would get better from when it was brand new(12-15mpg) which it has but looking at post and some people are getting a lot more then me. So thinking of getting the TSB applied.

I have gotten use to the driving style and how to operate the throttle so there is no neck jerk, only get the neck jerk very seldom.

Do you guys think that if i get this ECM update it will help my mpg? Should i be getting more?

I am not sure about the update improving my gas mileage... I am still getting a city ~18 mpg (g35x) which is roughly the same as before the update. But the jerkiness is gone - hated it when I was stuck in traffic.
