The previous recall on the 06 coupe headlights due to the clarity of the projector lenses. What happen was the recalled headlights has clear lenses, making the cut-off of the light extremely bright (with blue color cut-off line, something most of us HID retrofitter really like :P). So recalled headlights then got replaced with Fresnel lenses, making the cut off blur with no color on the cut off line.

Sorry, but thats misinformation. Pre-Recall, the headlights on my 06 Coupe had fresnel lenses. Post-recall, the new headlights also had fresnel lenses. I saw this first hand .

No Infiniti or Nissan vehicle has clear lenses.

hmm

I know a guy work at the dealership...the dealer was dumping a **** load of 06 coupe and FX headlights from the recall 8 months ago. He cleaned up the dumpster and stripped out the projectors and light bulbs and sold it to numerous retrofitters, up to 50 buyers I think.

oh thats a no no... we had to smash all of them on the spot and drill holes into them. besides those projectors are junk compared to the TL retrofits

^^^ TL projector is so 2005. Too big and overpriced. The FX and TSX combo is cheaper and smaller with the same output.

I guess not all workers are the dealerships are honest

The recall wasnt based off "Lense was too clear". The recall was based on vertical and horizontal alignment issues. Research it for yourself. Not a single car in the Infiniti line-up nor in the Nissan lineup have ever had a clear lense. Even the Maxima that has a beautiful cut-off, has a fresnel lense.

^^^ I can agree with you that other issues might have been the alignment, but I am sure that clear was another issue why it was recalled. It seems like all newer cars with projectors are likely to equipped with fresnel lenses. Perhaps this might be a DOT standard now, this I wont claim.

I was one of those buyer from the guy who worked at the dealership and sold off the recalled headlights. Picked up a pair of FX headlights for $75 with clear lense projectors. I opened up the headlight myself.

If it has to do with the lights not meeting brightness specs, count me out. They did a headlight/taillight recall on my 03 FX35 b/c I guess they were too bright and were a potential danger to oncoming traffic. Now my lights feel like they're about 50% as bright as originally. I can hardly see at night now. It sucks! In fact, I bought a pair of pre-recall lights off ebay, so I may get them installed soon. Wish I had never done it.
