2009 Infiniti G37 Sedan (Europe)

Seven speed automatic transmission is in the FX so thats a good thing... more likely the 2009 G sedan will have it as well.

the new FX features a extensive list of available equipment and technology designed to create an exciting and rewarding driving experience – including a new 390-horsepower 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 or advanced V6 engine (V6 details to be released later), 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.

No one is forcing you to buy an AT. The AT in the Sedan outnumbers the MT by like 7:1 in production numbers. Although I agree with you, an MT is a must if for an upcoming car like this IMO, but if the car only came in MT, Infiniti wouldnt be selling too many of them since alot of folks either dont know how to drive MT or its "beyond their years".

BTW: would love to see a G50 Sedan with 19", huge brakes, wide fenders, Recaros and a body kit. Ready to compete with the RS4, C63, M3, IS-F

VQ35 w/o VVEL = 290 hp (EX35 engine)
VQ35 w/o VVEL = 306 hp (G35 engine)
VQ35 with VVEL = 300+ hp (08 FX35 engine)
VQ37 with VVEL = 306 hp (euro models)
VQ37 with VVEL = 330 hp (US and JDM models)
That just seems like a whole lot of slightly different engines for no real purpose. They need to just bump everything to 3.7L in 2 variants - 1 high hp variant for G and M sport sedans and 1 lower hp but higher torque version for SUV/X-overs like the FX and EX where torquier engines would be better suited.
Additionally, Infiniti should get onto the direct injection bandwagon to improve both hp and gas mileage.
I completely agree with you about a G50 sedan. If they can come out with a 400+ hp G50 for about $50K, that would be an excellent competitor to those other V8 Euro sport sedans and the IS-F. I would definitely trade in my G35 for a G50.

Additionally, as far as "jumping on the direct injection bandwagon", it's not as simple as simply slapping DI onto the VQ. I couldn't agree with you more as I've been saying for a while that Nissan should jump on the DI train, but fitting both VVEL and DI into the VQs heads would be a major b**ch. Lack of room is the reason BMW has yet to combine direct injection with Valvetronic on their naturally aspirated straight 6 motors.
