Seven speed automatic transmission is in the FX so thats a good thing... more likely the 2009 G sedan will have it as well.
According to this press release, the V6 engine specs haven't been announced yet:

http://www.nissannews.com/infiniti/n...04113904.shtml

the new FX features a extensive list of available equipment and technology designed to create an exciting and rewarding driving experience – including a new 390-horsepower 5.0-liter 32-valve DOHC V8 or advanced V6 engine (V6 details to be released later), 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive.
To me, this indicates they will very likely use the 3.7L V6 in the 09 FX and G sedan.

Nope; the Infiniti website claims that the FX will have the same 3.5 that the G sedan has....

A separate forum won't be created, however more than likely all G37 Sedan threads will be moved over to MyG37.com.

I've pruned all the G37 vs 335i posts from this thread........please stay on topic and do not turn this into another G vs 335i pissing match.

I wouldn't want an automatic. 7 speeds, 10 speeds, still wouldn't get one.

Then dont get one? No one is forcing you to buy an AT. The AT in the Sedan outnumbers the MT by like 7:1 in production numbers. Although I agree with you, an MT is a must if for an upcoming car like this IMO, but if the car only came in MT, Infiniti wouldnt be selling too many of them since alot of folks either dont know how to drive MT or its "beyond their years".

(Total expeculation) Updated VQ35 VVEL with new heads. About same Hp, better fuel efficency, less emissions than VQ35 HR, similar performance to the new VQ37 from Europe????

BTW: would love to see a G50 Sedan with 19", huge brakes, wide fenders, Recaros and a body kit. Ready to compete with the RS4, C63, M3, IS-F

Man, if Infiniti does a VQ35 VVEL that would just be ridiculous from a cost and production efficiency standpoint. That would mean they have:

VQ35 w/o VVEL = 290 hp (EX35 engine)
VQ35 w/o VVEL = 306 hp (G35 engine)
VQ35 with VVEL = 300+ hp (08 FX35 engine)
VQ37 with VVEL = 306 hp (euro models)
VQ37 with VVEL = 330 hp (US and JDM models)

That just seems like a whole lot of slightly different engines for no real purpose. They need to just bump everything to 3.7L in 2 variants - 1 high hp variant for G and M sport sedans and 1 lower hp but higher torque version for SUV/X-overs like the FX and EX where torquier engines would be better suited.

Additionally, Infiniti should get onto the direct injection bandwagon to improve both hp and gas mileage.

I completely agree with you about a G50 sedan. If they can come out with a 400+ hp G50 for about $50K, that would be an excellent competitor to those other V8 Euro sport sedans and the IS-F. I would definitely trade in my G35 for a G50.

First off, the VQ35HR in the USDM G Sedan and the EX35 are the same motor IIRC. What accounts for the difference in output is the EX35s more restrictive exhaust system as the car is tuned to be quieter than the G Sedan.

Additionally, as far as "jumping on the direct injection bandwagon", it's not as simple as simply slapping DI onto the VQ. I couldn't agree with you more as I've been saying for a while that Nissan should jump on the DI train, but fitting both VVEL and DI into the VQs heads would be a major b**ch. Lack of room is the reason BMW has yet to combine direct injection with Valvetronic on their naturally aspirated straight 6 motors.
