Wife looking at '08 G35...
Obviously new to your forum and had a few questions for the experts. I searched the forums and the FAQs so I've got some answers already.
I would appreciate your knowledge on the following regarding '07+ G35:
Wife is looking at a fairly loaded '08 G35 Sport Auto.
1. She wanted white with the graphite interior but apparently that is not allowed. Second favorite color is black.
How does the Infiniti black paint hold up to wear, tear, and care?
Note: I am a car fan and mine gets washed about once every week or two so hers would likely be the same.
2. Has your G35 lived up to your hopes?
3. If you could do it again, would you change anything about your car?
4. Any must have options, or don't bother options?
Thanks for any info.
Eric.

1. Id say you should budge on exterior not interior preference. You (or in this case, she) will be INSIDE the car quite often. IMHO, the graphite interior is KILLER on this car. Black outside will of course show all the dirt, but the Plat Graph, and the Liquid Platinum hide normal road grime very well, with the Platinum being superior still.
2. Above and beyond. When I look at my car coming out of work, I still smile. I dont know if you have it in your market, but theres a Caddy commercial that starts "The only important ? you should really be asking is :When you turn your car on, does it return the favor?" Or something like that. every time i hear that commercial, I think of my baby.
3. Yes, I would have gotten the Tech package. I didnt think I needed it, but now that i park in a garage, I could use the back up camera. You wont have that problem now, as if you get Navi, it comes with the cam. In 07, for me, the Camera was part of the Tech package, not the Navi.
4. I love the Studio on Wheels. Yes, its not audiophile quality. BUT, it is good for stock. I am going to be putting a JL 10" W7 in the trunk for some bottom end, and probably will upgrade the front components at some point. But with all my other vehicles, the audio overhaul was immediate. It says a lot that I have waited this long to even consider upgrading. Last thing, if you get the moonroof, the visor is a MUST. Boy is that thing loud at anything over 35 or 40. I dont have one yet myself, as I havent used the moonroof due to the winter. Once it gets nicer out, it is my first pickup. I am very lost however, as i dont want one with a very high profile. I cant seem to find pictures of different offerings of the visors. If you like the look of the OEM visor, you will kick yourself if you dont get it.

Hi Eric, my name is Eric too!
1. I have 34k miles on my car and the front bumper looks like a nuclear bomb was dropped on it. It has soooo many chips that when I wash/clay my car, all I feel is bumps/dents. I'd suggest you get a clear bra the moment you get the car.
2. The G has easily gone over my expectations. It's fast, classy and looks great, especially a black one.
3. If I could do it again, I'd get the Sport. I regret it so much. Oh and I'd get the navigation.
4. I'd say the premium package is a definite must have, because the sunroof alone is 1000, plus you get heated seats, auto dim mirrors, decent sound system, memory seats, so on and so forth. I should've went with the navigation option too since I thought I wouldn't need it but after reading about how the Infiniti navigation was one of the best made me regret not getting it. My sister has an 08 MB C350 and her navigation isn't all that great. Kinda hard to use.

Welcome to the forum Eric.
1. I know that Ivory Pearl with graphite interior was a hard combo to come but, but it definitely was available.......at least for the 07 MY. I am not sure if that has changed for the 08 MY, but I would double check just to make sure.
2. I am on my second G35 and my 07 has definitely lived up to and surpassed any expectations I've had. It's just an amazing car inside and out. The technology in the car is fantastic, it's quick, handles great, and looks awesome.
3. Probably the only thing I would change on my G is getting the Technology package. I went with the Premium and Navi packages but decided against the Tech package. In retrospect, I think it would of been nice to have the rear view monitor for my wife.
4. IMO, the Premium package is a must.

Make sure that she gets the exact color combo that she wants because color is so important to a woman. My car is the red/wheat combo, and I love my color so much, that I actually was sad to be in the blue slate loaner for a few hours.
My car is loaded with nav/premium package, and I can't imagine not having these features.

Want to follow behind Garnet and welcome you
1. Black is just like any other black on a car...it's going to need that constant care, I would say. I'm not sure if the new self-healing paint is available on the G35...I think the EX35 has it.
2. I hate to laugh at this question, but DUDE! This car is sick...it combines all of the luxury features I was looking for with the performance you'll want, and all at less a price than the competition.
3. The only thing I would change is I wish it had iPod integration like the '08 models, but hopefully they'll be retrofitting that kit (I have an 07).
4. I personally feel the navigation and backup camera are must-haves, but it's all personal preference. Enjoy the G!

1.)Can't ever go wrong with black
How does the Infiniti black paint hold up to wear, tear, and care?
-It holds up okay, I haven't been able to wash my car for a few months because of the drought down here and it's still pretty.
Note: I am a car fan and mine gets washed about once every week or two so hers would likely be the same.
-have fun.
2. Has your G35 lived up to your hopes?
-yes, because my expectations were high for performance. my favorite car when compared to all my previous vehicles.
3. If you could do it again, would you change anything about your car?
-no, i own a g35s w/ splash guards as my only option haha. still appreciate the car for what it is
4. Any must have options, or don't bother options?
-don't bother, save your cash

u can see from my sig what I have, i love the navigation well worth the money since it comes with the backup camera, really helps you get into spots since the rear windshield is really high and small doesnt let you see anything.
Premium is of coz a must have, with upgraded sound and lumbar support for driver etc etc.... and u gotta get that to get Nav anyways,
I got the wood coz the spouse wanted it said that the washi made the car look cheap, in hindsight I agree the wood gives the car a mature sophisticated look, you want a luxury car to look like a luxury car, the wood is satin and not too gaudy and quite dark so its blends nicely with the graphite/black interior.
and navigation is EASY to use, and so far hasnt let me down.
oh yeah and do not bother with tech.... the ICC is finicky and the moving headlights is over-rated.....and whatever you do... do not get the factory spoiler.. its fugly....in my opinion anyways lol

[QUOTE=Eric-The Red S4]4. Any must have options, or don't bother options?
I seriously considered not getting the premium package. I never used the sun roof on my previous car, and didn't think I needed heated seats in Houston. Since I will be driving the car 99% of the time the memory seats and power tilt steering column seemed to be a waste as well.
However, I really enjoy the SOW, iPod interface, and Bluetooth features, and the auto dimming rear view mirror with homelink is kinda nice to have. I also wanted the wood trim and Premium is a prereq. for the wood. So I wouldn't say the Premium Package is a "must have", but I am glad I got it (even if $2500 is a lot for the features I actually use).
The rear view monitor would also be nice at times, since the view out the back is somewhat obstructed. However, I couldn't justify an additional $2K when I knew I wouldn't use the rest of the features in the Nav. package.

Ok...
I have a black obsidian / stone '07 G35S 5AT. I've had it for about 14 months now, and recommend the vehicle very, very highly. I'd buy the same car again if mine were totalled.
The black paint holds up well. All black cars are higher maintenance and will show dirt more than other colors. I believe the black paint on the G is good. Any complaints you read here about Infiniti paint can also be found on BMW boards, for instance.
I second the comment that you should get a clear bra installed before driving the car. I had the Infiniti Roadblock bra installed before I took delivery, and I don't have any chips or scratches at all.
Note that the self-healing clearcoat will be available on the '09 G sedan (check out related thread).
Overall, this car has been truly outstanding and I'm very happy with my choice. It is an absolute thrill to drive, the styling is great, and I lovingly wash it every weekend or two.
By the way, I would recommend using Klasse AIO/SG if you do get the black. Those products work wonders, are easy to use, and will give the black paint a great look.
Good luck.

2. Yes it has. I still love driving the car. I was looking for a comfortable, yet very sporty luxury sedan that mixed nice features, easy day to day driving, and awesome power/handling. This car is the perfect package...alongside the 335i but that was a tad bit pricey.
3. Absolutely not, but I got a virtually loaded model with only the 4 Wheel Active Steering option missing. I do wish Infiniti offered a heated steering wheel though.
4. It all depends on her preferences. If she drives to unfamiliar places a lot then the navi package would obviously be important. I could tell you what option probably isn't a must have. For 2008 the back up camera became part of the navigation package leaving the technology package to only include the intelligent cruise control and adaptive front lighting. I don't know how often your wife will use cruise control, but if she does mostly city driving (like I do) then she could probably go without the intelligent cruise control and just stick with the standard CC. The adaptive front lighting is pretty useless. So she may not need or want the technology package.
Thanks for all the good info. Sounds like this car will be good for the Mrs's and different enough from my car that we will both have what we want and still share the fun of the others car.
Keep the info coming if you have more to add.
Thanks,
Eric.
