TPMS light on?

I've only had my G for six weeks and today the TPMS light came on during my drive to work. When I got to the office I did a visual inspection of all four tires and they looked fine. When I check with a guage, they were all at 31psi, but the label on the door jam says they should be at 33. So on the way home I stopped and filled all of them to 33. But the light did not go off! I checked the manual when I got home and it says the light should go off once I exceed 16 mph (assuming the pressure is correct).

Am I missing something? Is there anything else I need to do to turn the warning light off?

i had the same problem with my car....the second week i had it (08 g35s) i had the tire pressure light come on....since the dealership is so close to my house i went over and had my service advisor take a look at it...he informed me that the sensors needed to be recalibrated...He took the car in the back for a few minutes and the light was off....hasn't given me a problem since...

I too had this pesty light on, read previous threads and checked the pressure. Even after double checking all pressures in the tires, the light remained. Took it to the dealer and they replaced a faulty sensor - something they said was not uncommon.

I was told by a Nissan service tech inflate all your tires 2 psi over the recommended presure and the light would go off. It worked for me.

OP here to report the light went out today. I took an hour drive on the freeway averaging 70 mph. Perhaps this warmed the tires enough to achieve the extra 2psi to turn the light off.

Does Anyone know if I will pass inspection with the TPMS light on? Anyone had it on when they went to get inspected?

All you gave to do is put 36psi of air in each tire and you will be good. and no you shouldn't fail inspection because of TPMS. Its more of a courtesy then required part.

Hmm, I'm not so sure b/c TPMS is required by the law now or in a very near future. That's why even the cheapest car has the TPMS now.

It may vary by state, but in Texas they check for these on passenger cars:

1. Horn
2. Windshield Wipers
3. Mirror
4. Steering
5. Seat Belts
6. Brakes (system) (Parking - beginning with 1960 models)
7. Tires
8. Wheel Assembly
9. Exhaust System
10. Exhaust Emission System (beginning with 1968 models)
11. Beam Indicator (beginning with 1948 models)
12. Tail Lamps (2); (1) if 1959 model or earlier
13. Stop Lamps (2); (1) if 1959 model or earlier
14. License Plate Lamp (1)
15. Rear Red Reflectors (2)
16. Turn Signal Lamps (beginning with 1960 models)
17. Head Lamps (2)
18. Motor, Serial, or Vehicle Identification Number
19. 1988 & newer - inspect for window tinting or coating
20. Gas caps on vehicles 2-24 model years old.

With regards to tires, it's referring to the condition of the tires, not the pressure --- which the inspector can check with a gauge. I've had my TPMS light for over a year and has passed inspection without a hitch.

Yea I went DMV this morning and the car passed fine. I asked the guy at the beginning and he said the only light in the dash we gotta worry about is the Check Engine.

He said as long as the tires look they have enough air and are holding air is all they check. He said in the future things may change with Tire inspections though.

my light has been on for 4 days~100miles after I inflated the tires to the proper 32psi, after reading a few post earlier in the thread I went out and put air into the tires til it reach 35psi still has been on after reachin 16mph....taking it to the stealership if a faulty sensor would be covered under warranty, correct?

I took my car in about 2 weeks ago for a few things and this being one of them. They said if it was faulty it would be covered, but as it turned out it was broken right off, inside the tire. But this was probably from the tire installer that put my tires on a few months back. I am not sure how durable these things are but maybe it could be broken, or just recalibrated as the others are saying.
