Closer views of the interior (with the dial type heat controls) and wheels can be seen on the European site for Infiniti. Not much change, but I'm stoked about the engine.

The only change to the interior (that I've heard of) is the change of the heated seat controls from a switch to a dial, so I'm not even sure that warrants consideration in pricing. Are you saying that the Akebonos will up the price of the sport package by $2000 (more than doubling the current option price)?

No! He said that the engine, trans, and paint shield will up the base price 1-2k. The new sport pkg with be a little more than the current asking price of 1600. Not double. Right Pop?

In order to get a price increase of $4000 with $1000-$2000 of that being attributed to trans/engine/paint, then that means the brakes would have to account for the other $2000-$3000. That just doesn't seem likely.

If you're saying that the increased base price plus the total cost of the sport package will be in the neighborhood of 4k, then I agree. But that's not the same thing as saying the apples to apples price of a G35 vs. a G37 would go up 4k.

When will there be some pricing information.... lol that is all i really care about... and the more i think about it, the more i think that there should be no 2.5 liter engine, it will kill the price of the 3.5 / 3.7 engine....

The sport pkg will probably cost $200-300 more, base MSRP will not increase by more than 1k.

The 3.7l probably costs the same to build, and the 7sp Auto might
be slightly more expensive (for Nissan) to purchase from Aisin.

Those that predict $4K increase just try to justify their 08' purchase

I love my 08' G35 but the 09' will be even better.

i think everybody needs to relax, this is still JUST a rumor. until infiniti confirms it, i'm not believing it. there are way too many reasons why they shouldn't/wouldn't put the 3.7l engine in the sedan for me to believe this rumor. if the NM FX35 was an FX37 then it would be easier to believe (same goes with the EX35). by doing this infiniti would have to raise prices by at least $1500 for the engine, transmission, brakes, paint, etc. one of the G35's main selling points is its price. it undercuts the BMW's 335 by about 10k when both cars are fully loaded, and its just as serious a performance car as the 335i with better tech offerings. for infiniti to make this drastic change and force themselves to raise the price in this horrendous economy, i think it would be stupid. wat they should do is just throw the 7AT in there, which would raise the sticker price by about $500, and that will raise fuel economy enough for now. plus there have been multiple articles with infiniti reps saying that they were uprating they're whole range for the Europeans because its a more demanding market over there. After reading that, and seeing them stick with the 3.5l in the FX and the EX, i just can't see why things would change for the sedan that would make it faster than its 'sportier' brother, the g37 coupe.

some guy claims he got his hands on infiniti's 2009 ordering guide, posts up some specs, and everyone believes it? cmon people, welcome to the world wide web, i've heard wayyyyy too many 'rumors/leaks' to just outright be sold on this that easily. it could happen, but im not sold on it, i need more concrete info

I'd have to agree.
I could be wrong, and there is nothing wrong with Inf. bringing out a new motor/trans and refinments all around. But this economy isn't going to support the costs involved in making these changes. Auto sales in the U.S. are hurting right now and it's going to get worse before it gets better. Everyone is on the bandwagon, but I'm saying it will be an 09 G35 5AT. with scratchless paint, and a few refinments inside. There has already been a small price increase on the base in mid 2008, and probably a small one again for 09.

Well like all good things the price cannot always last... lets face it, they were under priced against their competitors, but i don't think they can be the same price!

But i think they can afford to increase their price a bit and still be competitive... Keep in mind the Europeans are going to increase their price with the exchange rate, and the Japaneses are going to need the extra $$ too....

Remember thet plans for model updates are done at least a year in davance.

You're right about the economy (and customer expectations) not supporting a large price increase. However, IMHO it's likely that they'll upgrade the tranny...along with paint/interior tweaks...because they have a glaring competitive gap there. The 5AT is woefully outdated compared to all the relevant competition and should never have been carried over even with "updates". And if it's an either/or situation between an engine upgrade or the tranny, I'm thinking the tranny wins due to the better cost/benefit ratio.

As a matter of fact, I would prefer the current 3.5 mated with a properly geared 7AT and rear-end.

Face it. The car will get all of the upgrades and the price will barely change. That's the way of the world. Make it better, keep the price competitive/same...Of course, you won't be able to buy or lease an '09 like you will be able to an '08 for the next few months...They will be giving them away. Which leads to a big time dilemma for me...My lease is almost up. I plan to lease again. Do I need the extra 25 horses or 2 gears if mileage increases by 2-3mpg or 60 time by .1 or .2 (the car is a freaking beast already right?)? I bet the lease deal I could get on an '08 would out weigh the decreased fuel costs on an '09 no? Buuuut, I like the latest and greatest...Tough call. But fun to read about and speculate no?
