Which leads to a big time dilemma for me...My lease is almost up. I plan to lease again. Do I need the extra 25 horses or 2 gears if mileage increases by 2-3mpg or 60 time by .1 or .2 (the car is a freaking beast already right?)? I bet the lease deal I could get on an '08 would out weigh the decreased fuel costs on an '09 no? Buuuut, I like the latest and greatest...Tough call. But fun to read about and speculate no?
The better paint, 7 speed for better mileage and better RPM while cruising, its all worth the wait. Like you said, latest and greatest is always best. The G37 answers all the issues I have with my G, 5 speed is now primitive when compared with the competition and the current G's paint seems rather thin. There is no arguing with extra horses, the more the better. The G37 is a pretty solid car. The G35 is great but those extras are worth the wait.

Remember, their 09 Maxima has a 290hp engine, why would they want their perfomance flagship to be close to this. I am almost 100% sure the 09G will have 320+ HP. In any case, the G37 sedan is in Europe, its already a reality, the next thing is just to ship it to America

2008 G35 Journey Sedan no sunroof
Don't forget that the dollar has depreciated about 13% against the yen in the last year. That will have to be figured into the pricing, though Nissan will probably eat some of the difference to remain competitive.

That's a difference of $4-5K on a moderately equipped sedan. If we don't see any changes for 2009, that will be the reason.

The way I look at it is they achieve economies of scale by selling the same engine in multiple cars. Since the G37 sedan is in Europe, they now need to push more volumes in the US. Lower margins, higher volumes so the sooner they do this with the 3.7l engines the better.

i'm sorta disappointed at nissan moving towards a 3.7l engine in this day and age. I'd rather see them move VVEL into the 3.5L and add the 7spd transmission. This would go alot further toward providing a much greener vehicle both in emissions and fuel consumption (VVEL helps with both and the 7spd if tuned right should help with over all fuel consumption as well).

If Lexus had offered a 2nd generation IS300 with a 20/27 fuel consumption and 250HP, I'd have bought that over the G35 or the IS350 just because it's "good enough" performance and I'd feel alot better about using less gas. If Infiniti could get 19/26 (with new 2008 EPA mpg ratings) or better with a 3.5L VVEL and 7-spd auto, I'd be ecstatic.

Is the G37 sedan confirmed for 09? I didn't see where it was "officially" confirmed? Anyway, I am glad they made the changes that will keep the G on top of the 3 series in my opinion.

I am a little disappointed just because I bought an 08 G35 last week. However, I sat back and thought about what made me buy the car last week even when I knew the G37 was imminent. The simple answer was I just can't imagine anything that would make me happier with the car.

I simply love the way it drives, I love all of the tech features, I love the way it looks. I find myself looking for excuses to drive it even though I know I need to watch the mileage with only 12K per year.

I know the G37 will be a better car. That is how it goes. They make the cars better and better to stay ahead. However, I also know that the price increases with each new feature. I doubt that the price will be raised drastically but I am confident that it will be more than my 08.

In the end I think I will continue to enjoy my 08 even when you ALL pull up next to me in your 09 G37s.

Long live Nissan and Infiniti and the G!

wonder how difficult it is to have the vvel for both intake/exhaust or whatever from the 3.7 to 3.5 and then ecu flash, that'd be dope

Indeed. Neither Nissan or Infiniti have said anything official. And I'm skeptical about anything from Autospies, Autoblog or any of those of other tabloid websites.

I don’t doubt that it is true. In fact, ever since the G37 coupe was announced I had anticipated the sedan getting the 3.7 litre this year. However, I was wondering if there was any hard evidence that it would be so.

Oh well, I guess I should just go enjoy my 08 while you guys dream of your 09’s. I know that once the 09s show up I will be drooling over your new rides but I will still thoroughly enjoy mine. Congrats to those who had the patience to wait! I just got fed up waiting for the new one.

If it isn't here for 2009, it will be here for 2010. NIssan even has the 370Z coming out in 2010, which is confirmed. I hope it does come. I just want to know if the price will be higher. I think it will, hopefully not much, but only time will tell.

yea, we've seen it. but heres another thing, if you notice in the packages, the "G37 Sport 6MT" and the Sport Package have split 5 spoke 18" wheels, but the Performance and Tire Package has split 7 spoke 18" wheels. that makes no sense to me. every time i visit this thread i smell more BS from this rumor
