So is Infiniti guilty of a mild bait and switch, I mean they put the 09 G37 on their web site, not as "coming soon" or "coming in January" as if I can go and buy one today, this get a buyer into their showroom only to be given a pitch ona left over 08 at a deep discount since there are essentially no 09's available. I so want to com back to Infiniti after being with Acura for a few years, but I really wanted a G37 Sedan and not sure the deep discount G35 is worth it for me since I tend to flip cars so quick.

There are always motives behind the timing of everything a car mfg does. I'm not sure it's as sinister as a "bait and switch" but more likely an "oh sh*t we need to move some '08's first before we bury the dealer network in cars they'll be holding the bag on at year-end" type of play. At least I hope that is the case.

Infiniti is really confused aren't they! I can't get a G37 Sedan, but they now have $1K dealer cash? They are givining incentives on a car they won't sell me!

I've been looking for an 09 G37 Journey RWD optioned like this:

2009 G37 Journey RWD

3 colors I'm looking for:

Liquid Platinum/Graphite Leather Washi Aluminum
OR
Garnet Ember/Graphite Leather Washi Aluminum
OR
Platinum Graphite/Graphite Leather Washi Aluminum

Equipped with these options/accessories:

(F01) Technology Package
(P01) Premium Package
(S01) Sport Package
(U01) Navigation Package
(B95) Splash Guards (Sport Package Only)
(T93) Trunk Mat
(P94) Illuminated Kick-plates
(A93) Vehicle Alarm Impact Sensor
(N92) Midnight Black Grille
(R97) Aero Dynamic Package (Navigation & Sport)

The one option I DO NOT WANT is the AWS option!

This poses two problems:

Problem #1:
Infiniti mostly sends only AWD models to the local northeast dealers, RWD's are rare and hard to find here. In addition, the way I want it optioned makes it even harder so I've started looking to warm weather climates to find one, it's funny because some of the dealers that I've been calling down south refuse to believe that here in NY some of the 09s have been delivered at this time.

Problem #2:
Since the economy is bad, car sales are slow and the dealers have so many 08 G's left over that Infiniti decided to cut back production of the 09s and not accept any new orders at this time. If I ordered an 09 G, the order wouldn't be actually placed until January which means I wouldn't get the car until March.

If anyone has any info on any 09s optioned like I want at a local dealer please let me know, thanks.

I'll reiterate I think Infiniti is making a mistake, holding off 09's when all the competition has 09's out is a bad move. Even with $4K off you are buying a 1 year old car and the depreciation hit is substantial, some are willing to take it since they'll hodl the car for a few years, but others (like me) flip cars quicker and being so down day one means I need to hold it longer. Holding the 09's is not helping sell the 08's any better. Now maybe a $6K kick back might sway me, but $4K when the car is taking a $5K+ hit day one is not quite good enough.

I'm looking for the exact same configuration in liquid platinum/graphite here in North Carolina. Please let us know your experiences.

Note from local dealer re 2009's

Checked in with the e-comm guy at my local dealership who has been trying to get me to swap out for the last 2 years. Below is part of his note in response to my search:

"We have three 2009 G37 sedans for the Autoshow at the end of this month. I don't know if they will be available for sale. Because of the economic slowdown, there are more 2008 G35's than had been planned for. As a result, Infiniti is pushing back the official launch date for the G37 Sedan.

You are literally first on my list to sell a G37 sedan."

No real news here but confirms what I've been reading in the forums. I'm sort of surprised they actually have 3 for the auto show...then again I doubt I want one that has been molested for days at an auto show. I'll wait

Dean, I contacted Infiniti customer service to see if they can help us locate what we want. I'll keep updating you on the forum when they call me and see if they can do anything to help us out finding these cars.

My dealer e-mailed today to say G37 is on a strict halt until January. Boy they are missing it big time, they need to drop 08's another $1K-$2k to be buying aleft over this late, Acura basically has flushed all their 08 TLs out and flooded dealers with 09 TL, I assume other makes are doing similar.

Guys,
I wouldn't buy the G37, after having driven it for the last three weeks, it's just ok .

I'm really sorry that the people who were looking to buy one, can't get them now. Bommarito has a GE 37 x on their website. Don't know if it is presold or already gone.

Are you saying that you would go with something totally different or just take the deal on an '08?

What is your short list of disappointments?
