New owner, two quick questions...

I just picked up a 2007 G35 Auto Sedan on Thursday. Overall in great shape but the little metallic trim piece in the center of the gear selector is pretty scratched up. This seems to be a common problem since both cars I drove had the exact same issue. Is there any way to remove the trim piece and re paint it? If not, is there a replacement available from the dealer? I did some searches online and couldn't find the part listed in any online parts catalog.

One other question I have is if the auto mirror with the compass and homelink buttons can be purchased and installed by itself. I can't imagine it really requiring any of the other equipment included in the premium package so it should be an easy install assuming one can get the part

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
-Matt

Yes it can be fixed a person on here fixed it and did a DIY with sanding then painting just search and you should fint it something like "DIY shift **** scratches" or close to that or maybe someone will pitch in with that link.

For second question as long as your handy all you would need is to route a constant 12v and ground up to the mirror and swap them out.

From what I understand, he was talking about the trim piece around the gear shifter and not the actual shift **** itself. But I guess it might be the same procedure as far as sanding, painting, etc. Just a matter of figuring out how to take it out.

*Edit* After re-reading it, I guess he was talking about the gear shifter after all, so never mind

thanks so much for the link! That was going to be my approach as well if it was impossible to remove just the aluminum piece. As for the mirror... I'm sure I can get ground and power from the front light pod/sunglass holder... how about buying the mirror? Is this something the dealer can get by itself?

PM Rick@riverside he is a guy on this forum that works at a dealership and is a good resource, also look on search the net, google "everything infiniti" & "infiniti parts" also call your dealer.I also found this quick by googling "homelink mirror" as the mirror isnt car specific:

try looking at other hits for this. Welcome to the forum, friendly tip, google is your friend try searching there as well as in the forum first.

They have the Homelink Auto-dimming factory mirror on EverythingG35
Here's the link

At $235.75, I'd see if Rick can hook you up with a better price before ordering.

Hmmm... I wasn't able to find that on everything G35 but there it is I was trying to get to it through the vehicle specific page for the 07 sedan. I've found a few used on ebay for less than $100.. that may be the way to go. Most seem to come from nissan vehicles but as far as I can tell there's no difference. I may stop by my local U-pull-it salvage yard to see if I can dig up something cheaper. Thanks for the help guys!
