When starting up, the 4WAS indicator should light up briefly. Here's an old photo posted some time ago courtesy of kool_yaar.


Additionally, if you have 4WAS, you should have the mechanism that's between the GT-Spec bar and rear differential shown here:

the 4WAS steering icon only shows up briefly though. gotta be quick!

So the car I was looking at does have 4WAS. I was ready to buy. Got the check from the Bank and just to be safe I called the local Infiniti Dealership to check service history of the car before buying it..
The service advisor tells me that the previous owner had brought the car in complaining of engine noise. Apparently the oil had not been changed for 20k miles and the engine was toast. The dealership denied the warranty claim and they had documented this.

This local used car dealer had apparently changed the engine and put in a used engine. And he never sought to mention it at all in all the time I was talking to him about the car. There was no warranty on the used replacement engine and I just walked out of there ..
The salesman called me back later that day offering a 3 year warranty on the engine.. But I had had enough of this dealership so I told him I would pass on the car.
I should have guessed something was wrong with the price. They were asking $23k for a 2007 g35s with Nav,Tech,Premium and 4was..

Sigh, used car dealers.. now I am terrified of buying a car used..
