So I might be screwed...
Sorry to jack thread but is that statement true??
I bought a used 07 g35 and before i made the purchase from a private seller i called infiniti corp to verify if the car is still under warranty by checking the VIN Num they said Yes it is , knowing before i made the purchase that this car was in a minor accident got bumped in the rear. No major damage but they did replaced the rear bumper.. I don't have any problem with the dealership but was just wondering in case i need to bring the car in for any problems under warranty and they're saying that the accident caused whatever problems that i might have...and won't do the work.
That's pretty much what they have told me so far.
i did pretty much the same thing as Iamtodd.
fwiw, when i was looking at an 08 in chicago, one of the things they wanted to charge me for as part of the purchase price of this fine pre-owned 6mt they were trying to move was painting the front bumper where somebody smacked the curb. i think this is pretty common.
i would put your complaint in writing to local dealer and copy infinity corp and the selling dealer that certified it.
if i paid what, 1800 smackers? to get a car infinity certified, i'd be pretty insistant that somebody took care of the problems under warranty.
nice, but insistant.

Is it true that you cannot certify a pre-owned vehichle if it's had paint work to it? Or if a door is out of alignment? I've been asking around and have heard that a dealer is not supposed to certify the car if they notice it's been in an accident. The local dealer said this is not a car they would have certified due to some alignment issues that they have noticed.

if they take away the cert, tell them you want a 100% refund and return the car.
as for if that is true, im not sure.
the question is not about the cert, because its already certified.
its getting infiniti to stand behind its certification.
Infiniti said that every dealership is independently owned it's up to the dealers discretion on certification, every dealer has a different outlook I guess. What I'm waiting to hear now is from Infiniti corp the regional guy but it looks like anything that was damaged as a part of the accident would not be covered under the warranty and since the door gap is out of alignment it's possible that it caused internal damage to the motor hence the window mechanisim is not covered. WOOOOOO HOOOOOO. son of b*tch

Accidents happen! If the car was repaired using OEM parts set to manufacturers specification, the warranty is intact. Its not like all of sudden a car is out of warranty due to being in an accident. That would be a boondoggle for the car companies and a double whammy for the poor car owner who was rear ended. They should fix your window regardless, as long the repairs were proper.
And the car dealers wonder why no one wants to buy new cars anymore.

That's bullsh**!! So, if I repaint a rock chipped bumper before trade in. The next owner is screwed? How do they know it was a accident. Like stated above, repainted bumpers in a common accurance. Maybe there is no carfax report, because there wasn't a accident. Just a repaint.
Basically I think my local dealer is a pain in the A$$ and they are being di*ks. I have talked to other dealers and they said, "I don't understand why they are not doing the work, they get paid either way from Infiniti and it's billable work" My dealership is being lame and just saying it's not a car they would have CPO'd so I'm sorry I can't warranty your window because the door "may" have been damaged as a result of the accident" He said that they don't want to take the door apart send the motor or defective part and then for Infiniti to reject the claim because of a previous accident that btw does not show up on carfax. Yes I will agree the bumpers have been repainted and there is a minor change in gap that needs to be corrected but I'm sorry I don't see how that relates to a slow window rolling up and down 1 1/2 months after I purchased the car.
Go to another dealer and tell this one, they just lost thousands of potential dollars from maintance to another car purchase because they wanted to charge you retail vs issuing a warranty claim to Infiniti.
