price for DIY maintenance parts

so, my 30K maintenance is coming up. called around to get parts and was a bit surprised at the incredible markup for infiniti parts!

here is what i was quoted at mayse infiniti of springfield missouri:

- oil filter: 7.08. no deal for case price but normally over 12 bucks, so they are giving me a "good deal".
- engine air: 29.13 EACH, so 60 for the set.
- coolant: 25 bucks PER GALLON (need 2)
- wiper inserts: 11.63 each. these are not new wipers, just rubber inserts
- cabin air filter: 38.53
- serpentine belt: 60.95
- touchup color: 13.98

The only thing i ordered from them is the touchup color.

I found a Gates belt from local parts supplier for 30 bucks. Hastings doesn't make the air filter yet. Haven't checked FRAM or others for air and oil.

So, where are you guys buying your parts for this car? Someplace online giving a good deal? Or a chain like AutoZone/PepBoys/O'Reilly?

Any tips appreciated. This boy needs to save some dough.... (for tires!)

Those prices seem a little high. Check out Everythingg35.

Everything in one spot - www.infinitipartsusa.com or www.parts.com

Otherwise, i go to a mix of local chains and online stores.

Naturally, there is going to be a excessive markup expected for parts in a luxury car dealership. I largely circumvent this by buying parts on eBay, local stores and online - only go to the dealer if there is no other choice and if the markup cost does not offset the convenience. I decided that I will follow a mix of Schedule 1 and Schedule 2 maintenance, try to use aftermarket parts whenever possible or reasonable (oil, cabin and intake filters, belt), use synthetic oil with longer interval changes + and opted for a reputable local shop instead of the dealership for regular maintenance or non-warranty things I can't or don't feel comfortable doing myself = saves a significant amouth of dough in the longer run.

Thanks for the replys, guys! I guess I should know this by now.

I've had the good experiences buying basic stuff at my Toyota dealership for the last few years (case of oil filters - 10 each case for less than 50 bucks total) and was hoping to get similar deal at Infiniti. My bad.

Did I mention they refused to set the timing up +2 degrees? Their policy is they won't modify anything on the car past stock setup.

Also, they think they can do all my warranty work and alignment in less than an hour, so won't provide a loaner car for me and my family (wife and 20 month old) until they see the car. Looking forward to that discussion with a screaming kid coming off three hours in the car seat....

Doing a full detail on the machine right now. Am about half way through. Will post up pics when finished.

Infiniti uses Nissan maintenance parts, if you go to your local Nissan dealership you can get the same fluids and filters much cheaper than you would at the Infiniti dealership.

sounds like a good idea! at least for coolant and filters it should be more reasonable.

I buy most of my parts from Riverside - even with shipping, it's a good deal (especially when you're buying several items).

You can buy the air filter from TheNismoSHop for $11.11 each. I just bought two of them.

Go to advanced autoparts or autozone. They have cabin filters and air filters etc... Also you can buy any premium synthetic oil for roughly 7-10 bucks a quart. Also belts they can order oem replacement I believe.
